It's incredibly arbitrary, and Jon's aware of it. His paranoia--those eyes--isn't helping anything. Nor is the fact that the man had seemed to effortlessly shrug off his mental assault. It hadn't been a full salvo, but most ordinary people shouldn't be able to do that. Lucien mentions 'violation,' though, and Jon shifts, looking off to the side as discomfort and some guilt wash over him.
