[ It's definitely still closer than Poe's used to when he's talking to a complete stranger, but it's not exactly rare here either. They are still on a relatively busy sidewalk, though they're angled slightly off to the side to the point where most people can move around them easily enough at least. That hasn't stopped her from staying close, eyeing him so intently that most people would probably feel just a little self-conscious from the attention. Poe doesn't. He is very intensely aware of the scrutiny though, it's making it hard not to default to casual habits that would probably make this awkward for both of them, depending on what's actually going through her mind right now.

He does feel inclined to steady her, it seems like she's still wavering a bit, he's just also certain at this point that touching her at all is probably just gong to break whatever tenuous self control she's got going at the moment. It happens to all of them sometimes, sure, and is he against helping out a cute stranger? No, not at all. As long as she wants him to. He's almost holding his breath, torn between taking a step back himself and not going anywhere because he's definitely not just going to let her loose on the street like this.

Luckily she fills him in on her intentions pretty quickly. ]

No, no, I get it. [ He does reach out to her now, gently tugging her, by the arms this time, with him as he backs further toward the nearest brick wall, just so there's more space between them and the people passing by. ] This happens more often than you'd think here. Did you eat some cookies or drink some hot chocolate somebody gave you, maybe?

[ He runs his tongue over his lower lip, not because he's nervous, but the idea of kissing her like this does seem like it's going to stumble right into other things. But he's got self control, he can deal with this. ]
