"I really hope not." She pales a little, feeling sick at just the thought of having to do something like that. She doesn't want to force someone to their knees or make them behave a certain way based on what a stupid, ugly line down peoples neck means according to the city's warped laws.
And she won't. She'll push back if it comes down to it.
For now though she keeps her hands and feet to herself, voice low to match his. "Trust me I'm not going to argue it. It's just..." She trails off, knowing he's right. She shouldn't voice her thoughts and give the city any reason to potentially change her designation. Assuming that's even a thing here? But it has to be, right? A little added psychological torture to the heaping spoonful they've been dealt already.
Adjusting herself in the seat enough to where she can face Ben, using her back to block off anyone who might try interrupt their conversation, Buffy feels the first wave of actual relief hit her at the mention of not one, but two familiar cities. "Unless other planets or dimensions have those cities, that means you're from Earth, too. And maybe you have? It's not super small, just regular small and boring. Unbelievably boring. Sunnydale that is." She's not expecting him to know it. To be fair, she never expects anyone to know it. After all she never heard of the city until her mom decided to move them there a few years back.
"This might sound weird... well maybe not given where we are. But before you ended up here, do you remember anything strange or unusual prior to the choosing a door? I don't. I was going about my business and then bam. Here." Usually there was a warning, like guys in robes or a demon ─ something.
