... She has a point there, doesn't she? Atsushi wonders if that's how the headmaster felt about him, too. Sure, the man had done a lot to protect him, but all the cruelty he'd engaged in -... Was this how he excused it for himself, one wonders?

"It's true, humans can be cruel. But I think... that's what makes it so important to be kind, instead." Cruelty would be easy, but that doesn't make it right. "Everyone has the choice to help instead of hurt. If more people did that... life would be a lot nicer for a lot of people."

That could have been an absurdly hopeful statement, but instead it's a depressing observation that things aren't yet like that.
