McCoy’s view of what he and other Jedi did was just as simple and misunderstood as most. Obi-Wan could only smile in understanding and accepted the man’s choice. It wasn’t for everyone after all, but he wouldn’t have been a good friend if he hadn’t offered.
“I thought the same about Anakin,” he said softly. He didn’t know Jim, but he had known Anakin. His closest friend, his brother, practically his other half. Though the Jedi felt a little guilty as his words apparently stoked some doubt and fear in McCoy.
“You don’t know that.” His voice now barely above a whisper. “I didn’t see it coming, and failed to protect him.”
