wolfehawke: (serious)

Listening is an active skill, and Hawke watches Chris' mouth as he talks, his shoulders, how he sighs and decides to twist and get the glass that much faster than half standing to retrieve it more comfortably. He drinks first then speaks and corrects himself once, is to was, meaning there was a change in his perception either during or because of what he's describing. And there's bite to what he says, too. The way Chris over-pronounces 'paltry,' 'feelings,' and 'consent.'

"Was this realization about his lack of humanity before or after he came back?"
