( it's easy to find what he shows her, to walk through that room and turn over each card in turn, to see the snippets he shows her, the joy and love that he feels for people both familiar and not familiar. it relaxes jean, makes her feel a little more comfortable sat there and the heavy sigh that she'd sat down with becomes replaced by more ease, a truer smile of her own )

( the dear friend to her, an ear in a time of need, someone that's been easily able to read what she needs without telepathy because of how well he understands people, because of all the connections that he makes. jean might wish that none of her friends were here but at the same time, she can't deny being glad that they are: she feels a little lost and less certain at times without their wisdom and they're stronger together than alone. they always have been )
