Michael stared at him without blinking for a long moment before answering. "Ever occur to you that you might be working too much?" he asked. "Seriously, do you even sleep, or do you just go from one thing to another until you fall over?"

He'd seen the flickers of reaction, the sorrow over people Michael didn't even know, but the Michael before might have missed too, for all he knew. He didn't know how to offer sympathy about that when chances are if they really did get to go home, they were better off. And if not, they were probably dead, or would be whatever the hell Michael was - another version of the same source.
