It would be a lot more practical for him to let go, at least to get started with the business of cleaning them both up. It's a good thing, then, that Stede isn't known for his practicality. He keeps his hand in Edward's, leaning back himself and watching him finally start to relax. This is more akin to the Edward he knows.

"It is," he says softly. He gives it a moment, letting them both adjust to the water before asking:

"Are you alright? That was... intense."
