If anything, they might be choosing people that they think are good candidates for their search? I can't imagine anyone would be pleased to get abducted, but it's still a little flattering, if you think about it that way.

[Maybe they're so good, so kind, so heroic that the LIERs program is holding out hope that their own research subjects will save them somehow. Who knows?]

I believe they called it the deceit gene? They're looking for people who lack it. If I had to take a guess, they're probably hoping to learn how to use genome editing to deactivate it without hurting people in the process, the way some diseases can be treated by gene therapy?

[Because treating sin itself as a medical condition and changing human nature definitely isn't as terrifying as it is fascinating, is it? The fact that Rook has speculation so readily at hand betrays just how much time he's spent thinking about all this.]
