I fear you'd need to ask the LIERs program researchers themselves about all that--assuming they'd even be willing to tell us anything about it, of course. It's frustrating not having any answers, isn't it?

That said..... I'm not actually sure if the contract system is their fault, or if it's what inspired them to start all this research to begin with. It's possible they're no happier about it than we are?
