That sounded like it checked out and he hadn't even been here a half day. "Of course not. Oh well." It was worth a try to see if he could parse out why exactly the place had been the way it was, but even as she explained it in simple terms, it seemed too complex to give a damn about. He cared for a half second and the next half of the second had seen the damns given plummet. They were both here, stuck here as far as he knew.

That wasn't what he had meant, but he liked how optimistic she was. Karkat, without people to rally to him, wasn't the candidate he'd pick for escape chances. Not if he was her age, or Sollux's age. Even the older iteration he knew of had people to rally. Somethingsomethingbloodplayersomething. If anything, Sollux counted him as dead and just hoped he wasn't. "What's so good about the contracts? Like if I wanted to swing my globes around and tell them to give me something to give to you, what's the difference? They don't make it too hard to not bother."

They probably did and it was Sollux being lazy. The thought of being responsible for someone, too, didn't sit well.
