I'm not entirely sure professional tea-maker is a real occupation. Though if it were, I think I should like to be one. I would make a much better tea-maker than a chef...!
[but at least he cooks well enough that he wouldn't starve, left on his own. Fishing out some of the pasta and the cut broccoli from the rolling water, testing for doneness... close enough. He leans back from the sink as he drains it all, away from the cloud of steam, juggling the ingredients from the colander back into the pan and throwing in some spinach to wilt while a separate pan goes on to heat]
I suppose I simply like to host. I find myself more comfortable to have others in my own space than to be in theirs.
[and that's probably more because he is accustomed to it - because he so rarely left the Teahouse and even when he did it was never unaccompanied. But it also plays into his upbringing, even in what used to be childhood chores - like setting the table]
