Grunt like a curmudgeon is about as best Carden can hope for. He knows what it's like, to find out everything you believed was wrong, to not know what to believe. He didn't always know about the supernatural, after all, it's not commonplace where he's from, so he can appreciate an attitude of just... what can you do. Carden laughs at the list, shakes his head,
"No. I admit I'm curious about you, about your life and your world, but that person in the alley? I have my faults, but being that person isn't one of them. I'm uh..." he shakes his head, laughs with a little less humor, "... kind of a terrible Dominant, actually. I try, because well... it's the rules, you know? I'm not wholly opposed to rocking the boat, but I want it to mean something, if I do. But it's not really what I'm like, you know. I'd rather know you as a person, not as that," he gestures at the line on Javert's throat.
"But no... nothing here is simple. Everything is complicated." And that's kind of depressing, so he plows ahead, "Is there anything you'd like to know about me, about this place? I'm happy to talk about a lot of things. Something lighter. If you wanted."
