"That's a long time. I... have to admit I'm a little jealous at that kind of stability. That's something I'm not likely to get to have, not here and not back home. I miss it, and I only had it a little while..."

He's happy to leave that specific conversation route behind, though the new one is really no better, too close to the first,

"I've had to be a lot of different things. You get used to it," he shrugs. He doesn't know how to talk about the more supernatural side of that, the things he's learned only recently about why he might be good at being someone else, that there's a physical component to that, that he's connected to a legacy that includes a heavy shape-shifting component. The more human side, however, is probably better anyway and he's more used to sharing pieces of it, though it never gets easier.

"My old school is hunting me," he adds, after a moment, "I'm fairly sure if they find me, they'll kill me. I've been on the run for almost four years now. You get... used to it, I guess. Just showing people what you want them to see. It's easy when that's all people want from you anyway. It's all the other stuff that's hard."
