Canon Point: *SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT PLAYED ENDWALKER* (Only saying that just in case)
Right after your last encounter with him at the end of all creation. After defeating the threat to all life in the universe, the Endsinger, you and he engaged in a 1v1 fight that ended in a fist fight before both fell to the ground. He laments a moment about life, his or yours is open to interpretation, before his last breath is taken, and that is the exact point I pull him from.

Age: 26
Appearance: Zenos is 7.5 ft tall, golden blonde hair, frosty blue eyes, Garlean third eye in center of forehead (Not a real eye) that is a special organ that enhances spatial awareness and recognition.

Personality:
Positive Trait: STRENGTH Zenos possesses immense physical, mental, and aetherical (magical) strength, despite being Garlean (pure blooded Garleans are unable to use any form of magical ability.) In the Encyclopaedia Eorzea (Vol 2, page 116), he is described as a prodigy who excelled in both academic and martial fields. When other noble children were brought in to be educated beside him, in hopes of becoming his companions, he outshone them with his sheer brilliance.
During the first encounter with the Warrior of Light in Rhalgr’s Reach, Zenos nearly kills Y’shtola (a POWERFUL mage in her own right) and nearly takes down the WoL, who by this point had taken out powerful summoned beings, ancient dragons, the Ultima Weapon, Ascians (ancient beings hellbent on causing chaos to restore their world, but would cause the deaths of all). He does this in just one or two slashes with his sword. Throughout the remainder of the game, he continues to hunt and grow in physical prowess, honing his blade.
As for his intellect, he recognizes when people are useful to him. Fordola, despite failing a mission, is granted a chance to become a Resonant because he sees the potential in her to be a loyal and formidable fighter for him. After the destruction of the elder Primal Zodiark, and the End of Days is upon the star, Zenos is seen by the Scions in the ruins of Garlemald, taking down a fellbeast. He thought it would be good sport but is disappointed to see it was not so. He recognizes that his long-awaited rematch against the WoL will have to wait, as his beloved friend will not have their full focus on him. One of his former countrymen yells at him, since everything going wrong in Garlemald is his fault, and he replies in typical Zenos fashion, totally dispassionate and uncaring. It is Alisaie that scolds him, and admits that yes, he’s very strong but if he continues down this path of wonton destruction, that he will not find the battle he so wants, that he’ll be alone. Zenos leaves without saying a word, but, it is in that off screen time that his character grows. He approaches Krile later, and makes a deal with her, when before he’d threaten or outright kill her to get what he wants.

The deal is that he’d get to gorge on the remainder of the aether of the Mothercrystal so that he can assume the form of Shinryu again, then race to the end of the stars to aid his friend in the final fight. He recognizes that he will need to lend his strengths now and again, and that he can be useful to others, not just the other way around.

As for his magical strength, Zenos had himself augmented into what’s known as a Resonant. His scientists studied the legendary power of the Echo, a mystical gift given by the Mothercrystal Hydaelyn, and fabricated a false form of it. The test subject was Fordola, mentioned above, and when he saw it was a success, he gave himself a full version of it. Not only did he take it on, but he mastered it. Where the WoL is immune to the mind control of the summoned “gods”, Zenos can full on control and merge with them. He does so with the dragon Shinryu, who is one of the most volatile of all the summoned primals. Shinryu: A massive dragon created using the eyes of the dragon of rage Nidhogg as the base, a nefariously planned set up on Baelsar’s Wall that resulted in many soldiers on both sides dying needlessly, as well as a traitor’s own suicide as the catalyst. The fervent wishes of those that were fighting for their country’s freedom (all while being lied to about the reason WHY they were in that fight) led to the wrathful creation of Shinryu. The Omega Weapon awoke and the pair engaged in an epic fight that ended up with the dragon being blown across to the top of the Ala Mhigan palace, where Zenos found him and kept him imprisoned until his first defeat by the WoL.
He has other magical abilities, some from his choice of weapons and some from his resonant powers.


Negative Trait: OBSESSION
Zenos is a man obsessed with the Warrior of Light, forever dubbed his friend. The first time the WoL encounters him, Zenos flat out kicks their butt. The second time, however, Zenos does defeat them, but the WoL is able to crack his helmet, which intrigues him. From then on Zenos’s eyes are on the WoL. After the Ala Mhigo dungeon, where Zenos is the boss of that dungeon, the WoL chases him to the rooftop, where the dragon Shinryu is encased in an electrical net. With glowing red eyes, Zenos tells them that their battle shall be one for the heavens before merging with the dragon and making the WoL fight.

After the fight, Zenos… takes his own life, but in reality, shifts his soul into a corpse. He bounces from body to body, with the goal to get his own back, and engage his friend in yet another rematch. He spends the remainder of Stormblood, Shadowbringers, and through the main Endwalker expansions obsessing over the WoL and the fight they will have.

“It has been too, too long, my friend…. And insufferably dull in your absence. When you return to me, you will share everything. Every blow will be a story unto itself. Every triumph. Every kill. Rest assured we shall have a fitting stage for our reunion. Oh, yes. To reprise that transcendent moment, I will set this world ablaze. And we shall dance before the pyre.”

“While I await you, I shall drink a sea of souls and gorge myself upon the darkened moon. Then you shall come to me, all roiling rage and rancor…. And the stars shall bear witness to our final contest.”
“The gods themselves will be my meal. Your dear companions my dessert. Upon this world I’ll feast, and death shall follow in my wake. All your hate, all your rage, you will render unto me.”
He will do EVERYTHING to raise the ire of the WoL, even set the world on fire. He does not care for those around him, only feeling pleasure in the moments of battle against the foe that can best him, his friend. When the WoL is in another world, he waits, patiently, growing stronger, and plotting. When he finds out that his father has developed a weapon, Black Rose, capable of killing everyone without even a scratch, including his precious friend, he grows angry and kills his father. NOTHING will stand in the way of the battle with his friend, not even his own father.

Negative Trait: ARROGANT
Zenos is an exceptionally arrogant individual, but it is not in his appearance like many would believe. It is in his combat and strength that his arrogance lies. He loathes opponents who do not provide enough “sport” in battle or cowards that flee or otherwise do not participate in combat.
His arrogance is evident when he dismisses the values and motivations of the WoL, insisting that their actions are driven solely by a desire to battle, regardless of the actual reasons behind their choices.

Even in a confrontation with Jullus in Endwalker, where he shows utter indifference to the soldier’s demand for a justifiable motive for the destruction he caused, he states “For nothing in the end. So much wasted effort.”

Jullus becomes nearly enraged (which right then is a no no cause of things not pertaining to Zenos to explain) prompting another character to calm him down. He then turns to the young man and continues “Would you be "happier" had I a "good reason"? If my motives met with your approval, would you no longer resent the outcome? If so, then perhaps a beast's skin would suit you better.”

Negative Trait: RUTHLESS
Zenos is RUTHLESS from the first moment the player sees him in action. The first moment he’s seen is a brief moment of him in Ala Mhigo, but the first action is him destroying Rhalgr’s Reach, nearly killing Y’shtola and kicking the WoL’s butt.
But his ruthlessness doesn’t just sit with his physical strength and combat prowess, it lies also within his views of people. He cares for none around him. Only those that prove themselves useful in some way ever stay around him for any length of time, and once their usefulness has worn off, he slaughters them. He has little tolerance for incompetence and will execute subordinates for even the slightest display of cowardice or failure, such as the messenger who had nothing to do with Yotsuyu’s failure but was just merely a messenger.
Another example of his ruthlessness is when he killed his own father. Varis had given the order for the production of a biochemical weapon to be produced, Black Rose. This weapon was an odorless, tasteless and colorless gas that when inhaled killed instantly. And not even the Echo could save someone from it. Zenos found out about the decision to unleash Black Rose, and immediately knew that his friend, the WoL, would be killed from it and acted. He slaughtered his father, all over Black Rose, not for the innocent lives, but solely for his friend.

o Come Hither: Summons his Avatar (can manipulate the environment around them but cannot speak and cannot remain physically for an extended period of time.)
o Enshroud: Summons the Avatar, but this time merges with it. Increases his strength and speed and grants new abilities in combat.

o NOTE ON THE AVATAR: Please note that while AFTER HIS DEATH in game the avatar was technically freed and regained its sense of self and whatnot, where I am pulling him from would be right before the pact is broken, so the avatar would still be his to command. None but him can communicate with it, and it does not speak, merely gives him emotions (usually hunger for energy). So it is NOT an appable character.

• Dragon Transformation: With a VASTLY HUGE IMMENSE amount of aetherical energy, Zenos can assume the form of Shinryu and hold it for however long he wants to, as displayed at the end of the base of Endwalker when he did so to aid the WoL.

For Duplicity, obviously, this ability would NOT be allowed, as Shinryu is absolutely massive, but as an event thing, perhaps a half form (Horns, wings, claws, and the long tail) would be allowed for a combat scenario or something. Not a permanent transformation, and only when sufficient energy is around for him to absorb.
