Something else got in the way. Maria looks away for a second, shutting her eyes to keep from rolling them in frustration. It's not that Alex and Michael have to be together; she's not going to force them. And if Alex found love somewhere else then good for him. But it hurts her, just a little in comparison, to know that Michael probably, short of Max being here for however long, hasn't heard how much he's loved.

And then he mentions someone forgetting who he is and Maria has to come to a halt, stopping right in front of him.

"Fuck that," she says, annoyed and a little angry on his behalf. This place is fucked up beyond belief already; this is just the cherry on top.

"You are a lot of things, Guerin. Good and bad, you are unforgettable, okay?"
