Conner still doesn't really understand how the city works. Or at least, WHY it works. The rules may not be familiar but they're not complex to understand. But Conner doesn't see a purpose to them, which means it's hard for him to understand why things exist the way they do. Just because never feels like a satisfying answer. "As long as you're good. If not, I can try to help you," he offers, since that's all he can think to say.

He hasn't really had enough of a life yet to know. So far his life has been painful and frightening and confusing. He guesses that qualifies. He hopes it's not always like that though. "I guess I hope for less complicated sometimes?"
