It's probably too much. As the story turns, her hand stays put because it feels unnecessarily cold to pull it away. But her expression gets a little less warm, a little more startled and unsure. The things he alludes to: they sound horrible. She knows she probably shouldn't judge unless she's been in that world specifically, been in his shoes. Or at least until she knows more than just what Bass is telling her. Maybe she needs to hear it from Alex, too.

But no due process, brutality to quell anarchy. Getting lost the way he's talking about. She's never had to deal with those kinds of decisions herself, no, but that doesn't mean Bass made the right ones.

"I don't want to tell you to shut up, Bass," she says with a frank tone of voice. Because that's rude, but just on the edge of what she's going to do.

"But maybe we should take a breather. I'm barely into Duplicity as it is. Trying to account for your world, too, is a lot."

And she doesn't want to hear it. She doesn't want him to out and out state something that she finds unforgivable.
