It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the Deceit Gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the L.I.E.S. program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the Deceit Gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from L.I.E.S. after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues. ... and you’re here! Finally! Welcome to Duplicity. After choosing a door and stepping through to the other side, the first thing that greets you are the enthusiastic faces of people in medical scrubs and pristine lab coats. Their enthusiasm translates to eagerness as they strip you of your clothes to perform a thorough examination—you will be healed, bathed, and given a paper gown to wear until your items can be processed and delivered to your residence later in the evening. You are also given a device that accesses the network as well as the time and location of orientation. If you enter Duplicity into the Up, congratulations! You’re a Dominant, which means you are immediately picked up by a limo after processing and taken to your highrise. Here, it is two Dominants per floor with separate apartments. If you enter Duplicity into the Down, congratulations! You’re a Submissive, which means you are directed towards public transportation with the address of the motel you’ll be living in. Here, it is two Submissives per room with a shared common space for all rooms. Enjoy your free time until orientation! Participation is mandatory by all new and old arrivals. Winter is here and snow flurries are common in the Up while the slush collects in the Down. |
 After stepping through the door and participating in orientation, LIERS are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERS at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning. |
 As a particularly heavy snowstorm blows across the city, Duplicity finds itself blanketed in white. The morning after the storm, many citizens seem to be in a particularly mischievous mood and snowballs are a common sight flying through the air. A projectile meant for someone else may hit you square in the face if you're not careful — and then it's on. Joining these impromptu snow battles is encouraged, no matter a person's designation, and even Submissives teaming up to pelt unsuspecting Dominants with snowballs is generally taken in the spirit of good fun. Not everyone is throwing snow, of course — some are rolling much larger balls and shaping them into lewd snow figures. Those feeling chilled after playing in the snow may experience the urge to warm up with someone else, skin to skin. Whether they're a stranger or a familiar face, holding hands, kissing, or getting down and dirty with the nearest willing partner is invigorating. It might even be the only way to really feel warm again. |
 (cw: aphro, humiliation kink) Want to make some quick cash? After exiting the train in the Down, there seems to be a questionable character hanging about the station. Dressed in a trenchcoat and looking more like a flasher than the businessman he claims to be, this shady recruiter offers easy money in exchange for a simple delivery. Just take a package and drop it off at the address on the label. Really, that's it! Stop asking questions. Should characters decide to open the package themselves instead, they'll discover one of the following: glitter — so much glitter, lube (appears normal, but actually contains hot pepper and will cause more than a mild tingling sensation if used anywhere sensitive), a package of flavored condoms mysteriously labeled "every flavor" (none of them taste good), candy or perfume containing an aphrodisiac that, in addition to the usual libido-boosting effect, will also cause an intense craving for humiliation. It seems to be one of those services that allows one to send anonymous prank gifts, and they're hiding behind LIERs as couriers. There's no return address or company information on or inside the package, except for a card marked Encoded Sin Corp — which does not seem to be a real company if the name is searched. Whether characters end up delivering the package — maybe even to a fellow LIER — or get into some trouble along the way, someone is getting a nasty surprise. |
 (cw: aphro, dubcon, excessive fluids, exhibitionism, public use)A small winter market has been set up along one of the major streets in the Up with stalls selling a variety of goods ranging from knitted hats and scarves, soaps, scented lotions, candles, jewelry, artwork and assorted crafts to hand-dyed bondage rope and kinky leather accessories. Food and drink stands are plentiful as well. Strings of lights crisscross the street between the roofs of the shops, providing a cheerful glow, and there are tables set up in the street itself for people to sit and chat while having a snack — if they can stand the cold. Some of the most popular treats being sold are hot chocolate, eggnog, marshmallow snowmen, and sugar cookies decorated like snowflakes. Of course, their popularity may have something to do with the effects they produce when consumed. • The hot chocolate simply gets one all hot and bothered. • The eggnog may cause heavy production of sexual fluids, a desire to be filled or covered with someone else's cream, or all of the above. • The marshmallow snowmen will make those who eat them want to invite others to use them as they please, desiring nothing more than to be molded into the perfect fucktoy. • The sugar cookies seem to induce all sorts of different cravings — after all, no two snowflakes are alike! These effects tend to last at least an hour and may, in some cases, last up to a full day. One of the jewelry shops sells an unusual selection of compass pendants and bracelets. The compass arrows spin round and round lazily while the pieces are on display. Once worn, however, that changes. The arrow will settle on a direction, but instead of pointing north it will lead directly to another person. Perhaps you should speak to them? You may even begin to feel magnetically drawn to them yourself… In the event that two people have compasses that point them at each other, the attraction will be even stronger — nearly impossible to deny. There is another shop which sells intricately designed pocket watches and small clocks. When these timepieces are stared at for an extended length of time or picked up and handled, characters will feel a brief but strong connection to their past and experience a vivid flashback to some moment that was, in whatever way, meaningful for them. After reliving the memory, they will feel compelled to speak about it to whoever is nearby. |
Please read carefully. On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, characters will still have gone through the doors but assignments OOCly are still randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chooses "left" or "right." When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass." This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice. To assign roles to characters for this TDM, use the following guide: If your character likes it hot, they are a Dominant. If your character prefers the cold, they are a Submissive. To Note: Characters can only swap their designation for one of the following reasons: an event occurs that allows it or there are OOC reasons that make it a necessity. Any swap always requires mod approval and each character can only ever switch once. Characters that are being reapped will keep their previous designation but players can choose to use new TDMs with different designations for fun! Val's gaze follows him the whole time, that twinkle in the grey some mix of playful, challenging and curious. A smirk spreads on his lips just in time to be wiped away by the demands of that kiss that he so readily gives into, squirming just slightly beneath Kazu and not the slightest bit because he doesn't want to be there.
He can certainly think of some other adjectives Kazu would probably approve of more, but, well, he's rather otherwise occupied, now, isn't he?

Instructions probably wouldn't be amiss, soon, but for now he's just going to draw out the foreplay by exploring a bit. When the kiss breaks he drags his lips along the line of Val's jaw and down his neck, sucking a mark over his pulse. Both his hands are wandering now, tracing every angle and curve of muscle on Val's torso.

Val does so enjoy being at the centre of someone’s attention for a little while, and so for that little while he just— basks in this, Kazu’s hands and lips on his skin. The pressure at his pulse point reminds him that they can mark each other now, and he files that away to be used later. There’s a low hum in his throat, his head’s angled back so Kazu has all the room on his throat he could want, and he lets one hand stray back to Kazu’s hair.
But no, it isn’t lost on him, either, how close they are to touching things Kazu has yet to try. The Hub had been so convenient that way, making that first time more familiar for him. He can’t do that again, but really, they would have reached this line one day even if things had been better, back home. It’s less the lack of shifting, more just—the new experience as a whole.
“Tell me— tell me when you want a little guidance, love.” Soft and utterly non-judgemental. He couldn’t care less that Kazu’s inexperienced with his body as it is now, because they both want this and can work it out.

With something like this it's far simpler, anyway. He's a fast learner when it comes to physical things and certainly eager, so when Val offers to guide him Kazu lifts his head and nods in response.
"Now. Show me?" he murmurs, leaning back up for another quick kiss. One of his hands is already stroking low on Val's stomach between them but he stills his touch for now, waiting for instruction.

“Hmm. What would you like me to show you? Because this…” He slips the hand not in Kazu’s hair down between them to guide Kazu’s hand that little bit lower, to wrap around him. “I think you could figure out without much help. Sooo…”
He catches him in a kiss again, a little longer this time, and tugs lightly on his lower lip as he pulls away, still hovering close.
“What else, love? You want to know how to use your mouth? How to finger me?”
He wants to guide Kazu in these things, he wants to lead. He loves knowing that Kazu wants the help, that he’ll put whatever effort in for him—because there aren’t that many people you could say really put the effort into doing right by Val, in his life, not before gen:LOCK. It’s not as if no one ever cared but— no one’s ever cared quite like Kazu.

No, in this case it's not that he's genuinely clueless. It's that time and time again, Val proves an exception to Kazu's recklessness. As much as he'll rush fists-first into combat or be willing to fuck around and find out with a one night stand, Val is and practically always has been far too important to him to not be careful with.
He gives a low, thoughtful 'hmm' at the question, but since he's certain they'll get to all of it eventually the answer is simple. Still stroking Val, he bumps their noses together playfully.
"Whatever you're in the mood for."
Just stick a picture of him in the dictionary as the definition of 'eager to please,' really. At least so long as he's focused on Val.

Val exhales and lets out a low, pleased hum, his hips pressing into Kazu's touch, seeking it. Kazu's only ever needed the right nudge, and Val's always been rather good at giving him it.
He curls his fingers in Kazu's hair, and he loosely holds him there with their foreheads rested together after their noses bump. His eyes are closed for a long moment, just revelling in the touch and making sure Kazu knows how good it feels, before he steals yet another kiss and mumbles against Kazu's lips as they part.
"Mm, choices, choices..."
What is he in the mood for, what does he want? Besides, well, Kazu as a whole—and god does he want him, more keenly now than even before. He's warm and alive and here with him in the flesh and he wants so much, both in bed and out of it, that it's almost a little overwhelming. He wants everything and they can have that, now, and that's... it was impossible not long ago.
The only sign of all this emotion is the slight tightening of his hand in Kazu's hair, as he otherwise puts on a show of thinking hard about what he wants Kazu to try. Something he can frame as a little more familiar, or something a little more out of his comfort zone.
"Hmm." He brings his other hand back up, brushes his thumb over Kazu's lower lip. "How about we see how you take to working with your mouth then, hm? You are very good at running it, usually."
Tease, tease. Very, very loving teasing.

It doesn't sound like that's the case, though. Because again... Val's not wrong. He does fully intend to work on it in cases where it matters, like picking fights with his friends to hide when he's scared for them, but the rest of the time? Some of the trouble he gets himself into he's straight up proud of, and it's very rare he lets his mouth write a check his fists can't cash. They're impressive fists!
Kazu tilts his chin up defiantly, smirking. "Consider it all training for this moment. I refuse to admit defeat."

It's honestly unfair just how charming he finds Kazu's dorkier side, the way it makes him laugh in a way that's never at Kazu's expense. He can't even pull off a convincing eye roll, he just smiles and taps Kazu on the nose.
"I wouldn't expect anything less," and he really wouldn't, Kazu is certainly a determined soul in just about everything he does. "Mm. Though there is not a lot you can do from all the way up here."
He'll steal one more kiss, just for good measure, before giving him a prompting look. He will guide him, but he's sure Kazu can get as far as shifting position on his own.

Having been on the receiving end of things he's expecting a steep learning curve, at least, and he knows what not to do. All the rest, he trusts his partner to guide him through. So without further prompting he leans in, bracing himself with one hand on the mattress and the other at the base of Val's erection to hold him steady, and lowers his mouth.
The realization of 'yes, this is going to be difficult' is pretty immediate, but he's not about to back down from a challenge. He knows enough to mind his teeth and not risk taking too much and choking himself, so that's where he starts, sucking very gently at first to get used to the feel of it.

He'll be more patient now, he swears. He wouldn't dream of rushing Kazu through actually learning what to do, here, and he doesn't. He props himself up on one elbow just enough to be able to more comfortably actually look down at Kazu as he settles between his legs and Val would absolutely be lying if he tried to claim that even just the sight doesn't get to him before Kazu's even touching him again.
And then he is, the warmth of his hand and then his mouth, and Val isn't shy at all about making noise to show that Kazu's initial efforts are appreciated. He's careful not to let his hips jerk, because no, they certainly don't want Kazu choking, here, and he takes a moment to just enjoy it before thinking about how to guide Kazu, too.
"Yes. Start— start slow," and yes, he acknowledges the irony of this statement considering he's been the impatient one, so far, shhh. He laces his fingers back into Kazu's hair, asserting no pressure or pull, just settling.
He's sure Kazu knows what feels good on the receiving end, if not how to actually adapt that to the other side, and he'll nudge him down that line of thought soon. First— let him adjust to having his mouth full.

It doesn't take long for Kazu to adjust to the mouthful he's got, but figuring out how to move is a little more complicated. How does anyone do this without slobbering all over, or uncovering their teeth, or losing suction? So he does go slow with it, until he thinks he's gotten into a rhythm bobbing his head and maintaining a little bit of pressure while still sliding smoothly up and down. It's a little messy, and at the beginning he did feel a canine scrape (very gently, at least) against Val's skin, but soon enough he's actually doing pretty well. Even if he's still not daring to try and fit everything at once.
Alright, time for next steps... there are a few tricks he's enjoyed that he'd like to try and figure out how to replicate, but not yet. Maybe not this time, even. Instead he lifts his head slightly higher on this next bob, just enough for Val to slip from his mouth. He doesn't pull back at all, still close enough that when he licks some of the wetness from his lips his tongue brushes the tip of Val's cock, but tilts his face up to meet the other man's gaze.
Instructions, please. While he catches his breath a little.

The noises don’t stop, and every bit of it really is genuine—Val is a showoff, but he’s never been fake, and for all that Kazu’s obviously learning and fumbling a little it still feels good. The sensations, the view—oh he does so very much enjoy watching Kazu, his attention never straying far, not besides the few moments where his eyes close briefly.
His fingers are curled into the sheets and his skin’s flush with arousal and when Kazu does let him slip from his mouth he lets out a breath, then flashes Kazu a crooked smile. He reaches to brush that loose strand of hair with his fingertips then lets his arm fall again.
“Very good, darling.” He adjusts his position on his elbows a bit. “Think about what you like. No need to get adventurous, but…”
He hasn’t actually really done this before, guided someone in a way that’s more general than just making sure they know exactly what he likes, but he still slips into explaining more easily enough that you wouldn’t know it. He put a lot of time into his effortless confidence and it applies to all sorts of situations.
