It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the deceit gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the LIEs program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the deceit gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from LIEs after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues. ... and you're here! Finally! Welcome to Duplicity. After choosing a door and stepping through to the other side, the first thing that greets you are the enthusiastic faces of people in medical scrubs and pristine lab coats. Their enthusiasm translates to eagerness as they strip you of your clothes to perform a thorough examination—you will be healed, bathed, and given a paper gown to wear until your items can be processed and delivered to your residence later in the evening. You are also given a device that accesses the network as well as the time and location of Orientation. If you enter Duplicity into the Up, congratulations! You're a Dominant, which means you are immediately picked up by a limo after processing and taken to your high-rise. Here, it is two Dominants per floor with separate apartments. If you enter Duplicity into the Down, congratulations! You're a Submissive, which means you are directed towards public transportation with the address of the motel you'll be living in. Here, it is two Submissives per room with a shared common space for all rooms. Enjoy your free time until Orientation! Participation is mandatory for all new and past arrivals. It's the hottest part of the summer. Prepare to sweat. |
 After stepping through the door and participating in Orientation, LIERs are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERs at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning. |

To beat the heat, LIEs has decided to throw a pool party directly following Orientation at one of the city's public pools! Attendance is mandatory for new arrivals and strongly encouraged for everyone else. New arrivals are provided with (skimpy) swimsuits to wear, but LIERs who have been in the city a while have the option of bringing their own gear. Of course, skinny dipping is allowed as well, and there are many spots on deck for people to tan themselves. Speaking of tanning, why not help out a fellow LIER by rubbing some lotion on them? Or, if you want to avoid a burn, get someone to put sunscreen on your back? The formulas of the complementary products that LIEs provide may or may not have a mild aphrodisiac added to them, but at least you won't burn and you may get that nice golden tan you've been chasing — all over! While one end of the pool is reserved for people to splash around in or float casually, there are numerous games and water activities for people to join in on as well: In a sexy twist on Marco Polo, though in Duplicity the call and response is "lucky" and "get me," the seeker must try and tag other players by tugging at their swimsuits. They'll be rewarded with 30 seconds of foreplay, groping and whatever else they can accomplish within the time frame. Dominant and Submissive pairs face off against one another in piggyback chicken fights or jousts using inflatable toys and suggestively shaped pool noodles. Are those dildos stuck to the bottom of the pool? You bet! Dive down and retrieve them before handing them to the next person behind you to toss in and dive for or just collect as many as you can. There is, of course, the option of using said dildo on yourself or someone else for others to watch and enjoy on the pool deck. No judgment here. For those who prefer a slightly more private option, there are curtained cabanas available and it's easy enough to duck inside with a partner for a quick tryst. |

It seems the locals can't get enough of the cool, sweet treats on offer — and, even better, the trucks are offering free samples in addition to selling regular sizes.  (cw: dub-con/non-con, pet play, leash and collar, training/discipline, exhibitionism) A new public park has recently been built on a formerly empty lot in the Up. The bigger sign on the gate reads "Dog Park," and the smaller sign adjacent to it includes the posted rules that all people need to abide by in order to enter. If you're curious about what such a structure entails (after all, there are dogs in Duplicity), you're in luck: today, there's a meet-and-greet being hosted for pets and their owners, sponsored by a local "pet" shop, with banners advertising the event posted at each end of the park. This is a Dog Park, alright, but it's intended for a very specific kind of play involving the LIERs who want to wear the collars in question as well as the LIERs who are interested in holding their leashes. Even if you've never harbored an interest in it before, don't worry — random bystanders will be enthusiastically pressured to join in by event volunteers, so you might find yourself wearing a collar or holding a leash in very short order regardless. All pets must be collared and leashed properly in order to enter the Dog Park, and owners must remain in close proximity to their pets at all times. There are toys for tugging and fetching, a few pieces of special playground equipment, and more than enough space to run around. There will also be obedience challenges issued to various pairs at random, just to see how in sync both pet and owner are with one another. If you decide to participate and remain on your best behavior, you might even earn a nice treat in addition to a pat on the head. The pet shop will be handing out goodie bags consisting of take-home collars, as well as animal tail plugs and other sex toys and gear, to everyone who takes part in the event, willingly or not. |
Please read carefully. On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, characters will still have gone through the doors but the assignments are OOCly randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chooses "left" or "right." When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass." This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice. To assign roles to characters for this TDM, use the following guide: If your character is a night owl, they are a Dominant. If your character prefers the daytime, they are a Submissive. To Note: Characters can only swap their designation for one of the following reasons: an event occurs that allows it or there are OOC reasons that make it a necessity. Any swap always requires mod approval and each character can only ever switch once. Characters that are being reapped will keep their previous designation but players can choose to tag on new TDMs with different designations for fun! "No, I'm not!" Though, he most defiantly was now. Pressing a hand over Gokuderas's face as his shoulder was shoved at, wobbling a little as he tried to shift his weight, trying not to make this any more awkward than it was, only, one of his legs was now wavering dangerously close over the rim of the pool. "Oi" Quit shoving!"

His face is already turned away from where Aki had pressed on him and pinned him earlier before stealing his cigarette and proceeding to throw his weight into Gokudera's nuts. The teen's only grunting in pained refusal. He's pressing at Aki to get him away, thoughtless about how close to the pool they are as he squirms to get out from under the other Dominant, faced flushed and expression strained.

Aki was just about to give the teenager a shove and get off of him, but it just so happened that his foot started to cramp from the way he was sitting down on his knees over Gokudera's lap. Wincing for a moment, a hand pressing down on the male's abdomen as he wriggled back, trying to ease himself off without pulling a muscle, but in reality, all he did was groan and grind in what must have looked like a pretty lewd act to be honest.

The teen would have been fine with the other adjusting, but the combination of weight on his abdomen, the wriggling, and the grinding along with the moan turns Gokudera's face hot pink.
"Go away, pervert!!!" He's pushing Aki off, rolling with the motion, sending them both into the pool.

Listen! Aki couldn't help it! He had a cramp in his foot! The grinding, while embarrassing was not intended for the purposes of arousal! And yet, he noticed the way the teen's face flushed just a little bit too late to register, his own turning a hot red over the bridge of his nose.
"Now hold on a minute! I'm not a pervert, I have a c--!!"
With a huge splash and a moment of flailing, Aki was shoved crashing into the water, suit, shoes, and all! But at least he managed to hold onto Gokudera for dear life, tugging him along with him.

Gokudera threw enough momentum into rolling Aki off that he'd be unable to keep himself from falling into the water. Being tugged and held onto while trying to surface isn't that unusual for him.
He grabs onto the side of the pool and coughs up a bit of the water he'd inhaled.
"F-Fuck you!" Gokudera growls, cheeks and ears still flushed pink from his earlier embarrassment.

As they splashed into the water, a few of the people enjoying the party yelled and cheered for them, thinking it was some act of passion and not a brattish fight. "That's enough horsing around! Knock it off!" Aki grumbled at the teen, holding onto his leg to pull himself over to the side of the pool, feeling weighed down by his uniform and shoes, it felt safer to just irritate the boy a little longer than risk going under the water.

"You tackled me, asshole!" Gokudera barks back in retort as he hoists himself up and over back onto the side of the pool. Aki wouldn't have all of his clothes wet if he had just gotten off the teenager sooner, but oh well. Gokudera's getting up and moving back over to his lounge chair so he can dry himself off and grumble all the while.

"Just, shut up already. You got what you wanted..." Gesturing at the pool, at his drenched clothes and soggy shoes as he pulled himself up and out of the pool. Walking back over to where he had been peacefully lounging with a deep sigh before he started to strip off down to his boxers. Considering he didn't have any other clothes with him, he was going to have to dry them off on the sun lounger.
Pulling the tie from his hair, Aki's hair fell down a little longer than Gokudera's, around his face, tips dripping water droplets that fell to trickle down his surprisingly ripped chest and abdomen. Pysice was ruined only by a small littering of scars.

"How about you shut up. I would have just sat down and proceeded to mind my business if you hadn't immediately fired off with that rude attitude!" He growls and proceeds to not shut up. Gokudera wanted to relax and enjoy some peace while other people did weird things. He glances at Aki, tries not to double-take at all the skin on display, then he huffs and turns to grab a fresh cigarette.
He's not trying to make enemies, and this guy must be fairly new to be so reactive over the diving tools. Gokudera looks out at the pool as he relaxes in his own lounge chair, then holds over the cigarette.
Peace offering?
Honestly, they both just wanted to relax and not get propositioned for some weird interactions. Gokudera isn't going to look at him. So what if Aki doesn't look so bad with his hair down? The teen tugs the back of his chair so he's sitting up more than lounging back, and folds up his leg closest to the other Dominant.

Aki remained silent, just like Gokudera wanted. He saw no point in continuing to fight for the sake of fighting, that would make him no better than Power or Denji. instead, he sat on the side of his lounder, knees spread open in a relaxed stance as he rung the water out from his shirt tie and socks. The way he sat left little, yet just enough to the imagination, the wet fabric of his boxers clinging to him.
"Hm? Oh my god, yes, you fucking lifesaver."
Yoink~ Snatching the offered cigarette, a little more gently this time as he set the wet clothes he was holding down, in place of the smoke. Popping it into his lips and leaning in a little closer to Gokudera, cigarette bouncing on his bottom lip as he muttered; "Got a light?"

He's not looking at Aki, just spacing off for a moment, looking as if he doesn't have a single care in the world. Gokudera lights his cigarette and moves to offer it, turning slightly and finding Aki leaning in towards him. On reflex, the teen presses at the lighter and holds a hand against it to shield the flame from wind or water, leaning in as well so he can make sure Aki can light up.
In hindsight, it may have been cool to light Aki's cigarette with the burning tip of his own, but the jury is still out on how he feels about this guy. Now that they're facing each other and the dark-haired guy is relaxing and his boxers cling, green eyes widen and then he glances aside. He's no pervert. He's just a horny teenager.

As the light is offered, Aki leans in further, dipping his head down, looking at the end of his cigarette as it moves it into the flame. Raising a hand to gently ghost against the back of Gokudera's, keeping the shelter until he sees the cherry burn and the first hint of smoke, inhaling slowly to watch it glow. Lingering there a moment before withdrawing and sitting up a bit straighter.
Aki tipped his head back, pulling the cigarette from his lips, and groaned in bliss. "God that's good. Thanks again." He muttered before moving the smoke back to take another big lungful. He didn't know just how tight his boxers had clung to him, but he wasn't bashful either. They were both guys, he was technically covered up, he didn't see a problem with it.
"Names Aki by the way. Good to meet'cha." Leaning back over, offering his hand to shake. It wasn't a verbal apology but it was a start.

Everyone has different experiences.
Gokudera feels like the moment lasts a little too long, and he watches Aki watch the end of his cigarette, wondering how satisfied he is. He only leans back slightly and doesn't even bother to make himself comfortable as he watches the other relax.
A firm nod, and he's back to lounging in his own chair, smoking leisurely.
"Whatever."
Real polite. Gokudera isn't going to say or do anything about what he could see of the other through his clinging, wet underwear. Maybe it'll garner attention from someone he could be interested in. Who knows.
"Mine's Gokudera," He answers as that hand comes into his peripheral. Gokudera turns and gives it a brief shake before settling back down.

There was no doubt about how satisfied Aki was with the smoke, sure, he'd brought his own, but he'd more or less chain-smoked them one after another while trying to process what was going on. Feeling Gokudera watch him didn't seem to bother him either, he was used to having all eyes on him due to his work.
That's more like it. For a moment then Aki was wondering if he was about to be shoved at or yelled at again like the cigarette was a fake one or something and was about to blow up in his face. But no. They see, to have squashed the beef.
"Tch." Aki grunted at that 'whatever' but left it at that. As for attention from someone else? Yea, no, they'd get told to fuck off just like he told Gokudera upon first meeting.
"Gokudera. Got it." The shake was pretty weak but it was a start. Aki's palm and fingers were hard with calluses from wielding swords, but he kept the actual touch gentle. "I take it you're not exactly new here?" What with all his belongings and whatnot.

He doesn't stay staring, at least, not wanting to make the other guy uncomfortable. A little staring should be fine since Aki was humping and groaning on top of him earlier (he's not but Gokudera's dramatic).
There's not much concern over whatever impression he leaves, not focused on the handshake, not wanting much contact at all, really.

Dramatic or not, Gokudera's staring wouldn't bother him, he seemed harmless enough, didn't get the vibe he was a sex pest or anything, and he knew that if the teen did decide to jump his bones for whatever reason, Aki could handle himself.
With a sharp inhale and choking cough, Aki almost sucked the cigarette right to the back of his throat when Gokudera told him how long he'd been here. Coughing, spitting out the cigarette, and leaning forward as he gasped for breath. "Five months!? That..." Not wanting to do the math, Aki knew it didn't leave him long. "-I don't have that much time left..."

Gokudera's not interested in doing anything sex related unless he's had a few drinks or maybe an aphro in his system. Also Aki is still new, so Gokudera isn't under the impression that he's interested in doing anything like that, and the teen is tired.
"Until what, hm?" No one has any control over how long they're here or what their designation is. You could only be here a day, or even years.

Ah, Aki is used to people like that. A lot of his work colleagues are really conservative and repressed until they've had a little liquid encouragement. Apart from Himeno, the girl was a force of nature. But yea, Aki still feels far too new for something like that to happen casually. Lord knows he puts it off back home enough as it is already!
"...Until I die." That's the kicker. Aki might only be here for a few months but that's still a few months he doesn't have to waste. Only having just under two years left to live, being sent here feels like a total waste of his time. He could be finding and killing the Gun Devil!

He's also horny when it's not called for, given that he's a teenager, and he's also shy and uncertain about a lot. There's a lot more bark than bite in many interactions.
"Well, if you die here, you'll just come back." Gokudera responds casually. "I think you could just treat this like a dream, or a nightmare, or a vacation someone else planned that you have no control over." Which sucks, but... oh well. Gokudera's not made much headway on overthrowing any part of the government, and as far as the other LIERs are concerned... he can't beat 'em, so he'll join 'em.

Sounds like he needs some discipline in his life. Shame they're both the same designation or Aki might have suggested teaching him a lesson or two. Not that that's something he wants to do or anything, just a wild thought passing through.
"I-..." Hold on, what? Aki looks a little dumbfounded for a moment then. The explanation is easier to grasp than the one he was given when he arrived mind you, it's just, not something he really believed. "What do you mean, I'll just come back? You can't... You can't die here?"

Gokudera would happily seek out some discipline, but those who could provide that are usually either Dominants themselves, or uninterested in him in that way. He's not used to anyone wanting to help him much, though, so most attempts would likely end up angering him and making everything he does so much worse.
"Well... I don't know if it's the same way for everyone, but I went into the ocean and three days later, I washed up on the beach, along with my contract partner. I remember drowning... and... how peaceful it was..." Gokudera's never really been afraid of death... more so defeat.

apart from Miss Makima.Aki wouldn't mind enforcing a little discipline in Gokudera, lord knows he does it enough back home with the teens in his care, though they'd be in trouble if they were ever caught and well, Aki is far too new to be thinking about getting into trouble over anything like that just yet. Maybe in the future though... If they don't kill each other before then.
Well, that certainly was a harrowing story. Aki just looks at them for a long while before saying anything and when he does, his tone is a little less harsh than before. "Sorry I stole your seat and got you all wet." Maybe it was knowing that they had been through that and with their contracted partner too that humbled Aki a little. It reminded him of Himeno, of Angel. He just hoped that being in the pool hadn't reminded them of that ordeal.

Considering he did it to himself and it was not painful -a little scary, though- he isn't bothered by being in water. Maybe because he isn't alone? Because he was busy reacting and thinking about how he was going to get Aki, lost in his childish sense of competition.
Maybe because he's been close to death plenty of times, and it's just something... natural. Maybe part of him hoped he'd wake up back home in Namimori.
He sighs and looks over at the apology, unable to be truly upset at Aki's consideration. "It's alright... hang on."
Gokudera gets up and moves to get a new drink, then sits back down and places it closer to Aki. "If anyone asks, I bought that for myself."

That's good to know. Even though he started it by telling them to fuck off, Aki would have felt pretty bad knowing he stressed them out or caused them to recall unfavorable memories.
Gokudera had been close to death before? Huh, possibly another thing they have in common?
"Huh?" Watching as they get up and leave for a short while. Aki assumed they were just leaving in general, until they returned with a drink which was sat down beside Aki. "Thanks. You didn't have to y'know? And... Sure." There it is, the very smallest hint of a smile. Just a quick little quirk of his lips in the corners.
