It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy.

This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses.

To counteract the discovery of the deceit gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the LIEs program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the deceit gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from LIEs after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues.

...and you're here! Finally! Welcome to Duplicity.

After choosing a door and stepping through to the other side, the first thing that greets you are the enthusiastic faces of people in medical scrubs and pristine lab coats. Their enthusiasm translates to eagerness as they strip you of your clothes to perform a thorough examination—you will be healed, bathed, and given a paper gown to wear until your items can be processed and delivered to your residence later in the evening. You are also given a device that accesses the network as well as the time and location of Orientation.

If you enter Duplicity into the Up, congratulations! You're a Dominant, which means you are immediately picked up by a limo after processing and taken to your high-rise. Here, it is two Dominants per floor with separate apartments. If you enter Duplicity into the Down, congratulations! You're a Submissive, which means you are directed towards public transportation with the address of the motel you'll be living in. Here, it is two Submissives per room with a shared common space for all rooms.

Submissives are provided with a plain black pleather collar to wear and Dominants are given bracelets made of the same black pleather. The simple design is an immediate visual indicator that they have not yet signed a contract and they will be informed that more elaborate or personalized styles are a privilege reserved for those who do.

Enjoy your free time until Orientation! Participation is mandatory for all new and past arrivals.

The first hints of spring are in the air. Large piles of snow still linger, but precipitation has turned to rain and the breeze gets a little warmer every day. It's time to swap out wool coats for umbrellas and turtlenecks for tea dresses!

After stepping through the door and participating in Orientation, LIERs are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERs at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park.

The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning.

Far too many people can’t seem to follow directions. Reading a map shouldn’t be that hard, so LIES has taken it upon themselves to update their usual city tour to refresh newcomers and graduates alike. This month’s orientation includes a more in-depth tour than the usual train ride, coupling it with bus routes that lead groups through various stations and stops that show off some of the city’s most notable landmarks. To your left you will see Fiddler's Square, and over on the right you will see the greenhouse, opened just last year. Enjoy this drive along the coast! The beach looks lovely and the lighthouse stands proud and watchful, but the city recommends against visiting either one. Isn't the business district much lovelier, with all the fancy hotels and lively dance clubs?

Dominants and Submissives both new and old are required to take or give the tour at least once, depending on how long they have been in the city. Those who have lived in the city for over six months will find themselves given maps to follow and brochures that describe various places in town; they are paired with newcomers who haven't been here quite as long, and are still learning what the city has to offer them.

Whether a tour guide or a member of the tour group, Dominants will be given priority seating, while Submissives are expected to either kneel at their feet, sit on their laps, or even stay standing in trains and buses that, curiously, are always packed. Everyone’s taking these tours, so it's no wonder these carriages are so crowded.

Something strange happens on these tours, though. It starts small and faint, but the longer you spend in these crowded buses and trains, the hotter you feel - and the people surrounding you look more and more attractive. But this is Duplicity, and no one will bat an eye if the Submissive on a Dominant’s lap starts humping them in front of everyone else… After all, it seems like everyone else is already also doing the same.

The strange part? No one can get off. No matter how far you take it, or how long you try to climax - you just can't. No one can. No one's getting off on this tour, not until the bus or train makes it to each pre-planned stop. Please mind the gap as you disembark, and try not to come all over the concrete the minute you step out of the vehicle!

The tours aren't all about sex on the go. While the tour guides are given maps and brochures to study up on, the tour-takers are given little stamp cards and instructions to complete a fun stamp rally. Visiting each of the locations on your card can get you an adorable stamp, and completing the stamps will get you a fun and useful prize! Participating locations include:

...and more! Every card is different, and will take you all around the Up and the Down.

The catch - you don't get a stamp until you use your device to scan an official code found in stamp stands at each stop. Doing so brings up a pose to be done with at least one other person. Make sure to pose quickly, a camera somewhere in the area will flash in a few moments to take your photo. Some photos are fairly straightforward - a kiss to the cheek, or a slap to the ass. Others are a bit more involved - giving a blowjob, or getting pegged. Don't complain, some unlucky people might get something convoluted (can anyone truly bend that way? Time to find out!). You get unlimited tries to take the perfect picture - so if you don't manage it the first time, simply scan again and strike another pose. Unfortunately the pose won't change with any additional scans, so make sure to do your best with what you’ve been given!

Completed stamp cards can be exchanged at the Orientation Center for a loaded money pass! Particularly valuable to Submissives (uncontracted ones, or ones who want to buy things by themselves), money passes are honored all over the city, and can be used to purchase necessities without a Dominant’s signature. The pass is valid for a whole month, and has enough to cover a month’s worth of decent warm meals, a few indulgences, and maybe some appropriate clothes for the season. Buy whatever you need to impress the Dominant of your dreams and secure a contract that suits your needs.

In a bid to attract new customers, the boutique Delicate Desires has partnered with LIES to advertise their shops as a one-stop-shop for new arrivals to get their hands on necessities they’ll need to make their lives easier and more enriched. With every completed stamp card, Submissives will also receive a coupon for 40% off anything in the store. Get a frilly, lacy outfit for every occasion!

If you don’t have any cash or failed to complete your stamp card - don’t fret! Find another Submissive who is willing to spend money on you from their own pass, or find a Dominant to spoil you - with the outfit being one of their choice, of course.

There are changing rooms available for customers to try on outfits and one may find that when they look at themselves in the mirrors of the store, their self-confidence spikes. It doesn’t matter how good or bad they may objectively look, they’ll feel like the hottest person to ever grace Duplicity’s streets. If said boost in confidence comes with feeling hot and bothered, well, the clerks won’t mind if the rooms are used for a quickie, so long as you’re, well, quick about it. They're expecting a lot of customers!

A competing store next door, Allure & Adorn, has decided to use this opportunity to try and lure customers into their own shop, boasting that their clothes are just as good - if not better! - than the ones offered next door. They will also accept the money passes that Submissives may have earned during the stamp rally, but their prices are a little less favorable than the boutique's. Their outfits, instead of their mirrors, seem to make those that wear them feel prone to showing off and indulging in exhibitionist activities. No fucking in the changing rooms here though - this store has class! Go out on the streets if you wish to indulge in that sort of behaviour.

On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, characters will still have gone through the doors but the assignments are OOCly randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chooses "left" or "right." When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass." This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice.

All new arrivals on this TDM are Submissive.

To Note: Characters can only swap their designation for one of the following reasons: an event occurs that allows it or there are OOC reasons that make it a necessity. Any swap always requires mod approval and each character can only ever switch once. Characters that are being reapped will keep their previous designation but players can choose to tag on new TDMs with different designations for fun!

Test Drive threads can be used as activity proofs for characters currently in-game.

Yeah, probably. Kind of annoying to force everyone around the city like this after that dumb tour bus thing, but, whatever. There have been worse exercises.

[Like bondage and chastity belts. An elaborate tour was probably much easier to stomach for someone like Izuku. Cater glances over at him from time to time, and of course he's too perceptive not to notice the obvious discomfort that his new friend is experiencing. The question is really, just, exactly what was it that was on his mind? It could've been plenty of different things, and Cater wasn't so sure that prying would be appreciated. At this point, though, his usual distraction tactic didn't seem to be working all that well--but Cater figured that made sense. Being new to such a nightmare scenario...there was a lot to unpack, here.]

...you know, if you're uncomfortable, I can let go. It won't offend me, or anything.

W-Worse?? [ That's... Not what he wants to hear - Izuku's chest aches just a bit. What sort of horrible things has everyone gone through in a place like this? To his dismay, Cater seemed to have noticed something was up with him. Izuku quickly attempts to alleviate the moment with a smile. ]

No, that's not it at all. Not, that you make me uncomfortable.. It's just that the whole thing is a bit uncomfortable and new for me. If I can't do something as simple as this, I... I am going to be in a lot of trouble later on. [ Izuku squeezes Cater's hand and tries to hold onto him more firmly. ] If you don't mind, please keep holding my hand as long as you want. It'll help me start to get used to things like this.

[Cater gives it a second to think...and then decides that being honest about the reality of the situation was probably better than continuously trying to downplay it.]

I won't lie--it isn't easy. A lot of things happen in this place that are hard to deal with, harder than just having sex with strangers. I know they covered it all for you in Orientation, but so you know from someone who's seen it: breaking the law and getting sent to the SLUT Center is never worth it. The people there will drug you, and bend your mind in a way that'll make you compliant against your better nature.

[Even just recently, when he thinks about what happened with Idia...well, no, Cater doesn't want to relive it again. He sighs heavily, but the smile he follows up with is genuine...if more worn around the edges than his previous ones had seemed.]

The locals here are almost unanimously unkind to us, but those of who were brought here? We all help each other out. So, I won't let go. You can count on that much.

Thank you; I will take your advice to heart.

[ The information he takes from this conversation makes the situation more and more dire. It sparks an ember inside of him, hearing and knowing by this point how horrible everything really is in a place like this. It churns his inner gears, and his desire to help others is in full blast. He'd do anything to ensure others were okay or safe in any way.

So what does that mean, in a place like this? ]

You can count on me, too. [ Izuku offers, holding tight to Cater's hand. Walking in step with him, carrying himself a bit more comely compared to his sheepish self moments before. ] I promise.

[The look on Izuku's face was not one that Cater was wholly unfamiliar with. It was the kind of resolve a person had who was prepared to take on insurmountable odds to protect others. He's reminded of Silver, a bit, which is both a painful comparison and one that makes him feel softer. Either way, he knew that trying to argue with him or tell him that he needed to worry more about himself was probably pointless.

He really hoped that the city didn't break Izuku the way it had broken his own spirit. Genuinely kind people like this deserved so much better.

Once they do reach the next stop, Cater finally lets that earlier, bubbly energy come back out again, almost like that more serious turn in conversation hadn't ever happened.]

Alrighty--here we are! Let's see what kind of picture this one wants us to take to earn our stamp, shall we?

[ Izuku notes that Caters' personality can come and go like the tides, as if who he chooses to be in the moment is where he goes. Flowing along with what best suits the needs of what calls him - it's interesting, and Izuku doesn't so much as question it or act any different from one moment to the next. If this is how he is, then so be it. ]

Cater. [ As Cater steps forward, Izuku holds him firmly standing where he stood. ] Whatever it tells us to do, I want to do it with you.

[Cater has a new personality for every situation--but if he's around him long enough, Izuku's likely to be able to identify the real person beneath them. Each one does have its own relevant piece of the real Cater, after all.]

Are you sure?

[He looks at him with a bit of surprise as Izuku holds him back.]

It could really be anything--you don't have to make a decision like that before finding out what it is.

Yeah. [ Izuku says softly, very evidently hurting on the inside. ] If this is what its like to be here, and this is what my life is going to be like now. I'd rather it be with someone like you than someone I don't know at all. If you'd be okay with that, with someone like me, then, [ His eyes move back up to Caters. ] I'll face whatever it is each time.

[It was...sad. Cater lets out a small huff, a not-quite smile. In a way, it was flattering to have someone new put their trust in him like this. In another, he was pretty sure he didn't deserve it. Knew for a fact that Izuku could find someone overall better and kinder to stick with. But, hey, they were here right now, and not two other people.]

Yeah, I am.

[He moves their joined hands to link their pinkies together instead.]

It's a promise, then. Lets get this bread.

[ Despite the innocence that follows him, Izuku is a murderer at the end of the day, and he is someone who isn't so stupid to believe that he can spend the rest of his days barely getting by. He knows what he is in for, now more than ever, but it's the fact that he met someone willing to show him a comfortable experience. That he's willing to go all in if he must. Izuku, too, has always been a hungry learner and someone who enjoys learning new things.

Thankfully, as he scans the pattern and pulls up the information for the pose, it seems, at least here, he can continue to steel his nerves for what may come next. Izuku turns sharply, letting go of Cater's hand, unbuttoning his suit coat open so as not to stretch out the seams. Then, Izuku quickly moves over to sweep Cater off his feet.

He's done this so many times before - it's easy for him to do this. He is extremely natural at doing this - ]

Are you ready? [ He holds Cater in his arms, as if they were no more than a princess to be carried within his arms. ]

[Cater's definitely too busy watching Izuku unbuttoning his coat to actually check and see what the pose was. He's wondering just how much more he's gonna take off when suddenly he's being scooped up off the ground. Honestly, it's not an altogether unfamiliar feeling, but that doesn't mean it takes him any less by surprise.]

Whoa--!

[He can't help it, he bursts into laughter, grinning from ear-to-ear.]

You can't just ask that after you've already picked me up!

[But yeah, he's good to go. If this is supposed to be a romantic sort of pose, he can do that. Once the machine is queued to take their photo, he'll even cup Izuku's face in his hands.]

[ With absolute ease, Izuku holds Cater up with his strength alone. The camera in the distance adjusts itself so it can take in the two figures and begin to snap a photo. What Izuku doesn't expect is Cater taking in his face and cupping either side of his cheeks. When he is redirected to look at Cater, Izuku is a bit mesmerized. His cheeks were a light, dusted pink, but his expression was that of someone bewildered. ]

Eh - ?

[The way that Izuku was looking at him, with such a sweet, confused sort of innocence...it was really doing something for him. Cater would feel more like he was taking advantage, if the guy wasn't clearly a little bit older than him. He's starting to wonder--does he have a thing for virgins? Or is there a bit of morosexual in him?]

You're earning yourself more and more cuteness points by the second, you know that?

[Cater winks, letting his face go when he's certain they've nailed the pose for the camera. He doesn't even try and wriggle out of Izuku's hands as he checks his own device to confirm. Another stamp, down! Man, that was really easy. Who would've thought the city would be feeling so generous?

No way it could last, though. Not for the whole card.]

[ Cuteness? Izuku finds himself so confused the more he talks to the people here within this place. Back at home, he was considered below average, never garnered the looks of others, and frankly, if anything, because he was quirkless. Izuku was often treated with contempt. It was why he was so obsessed with the attention he got from Bakugo Kastuki, the guy who was so amazing at everything, considering him a friend?

Yet riddled with nasty scars, people here consider him - interesting?

Izuku looks up at Cater, so confused, wanting to understand what is going on and why he was brought to this place in the first place. Someone like him? ]

I'm not... So sure, [ He starts walking, holding Cater in his arms casually. ] I understand what you mean.

[ Let the tenderness last for the moment it lives in. Izuku understands how precious these moments are. ]

[Cater's smile falters, because there's something just a bit...sad, about that reaction. He was expecting shyness and embarrassment, but this was something almost broken up, in the complete lack of confidence in himself.]

Hey...

[Since they're just straight up walking, now, he'll gently tap on Izuku's shoulder to get him to put him back on his feet. Don't worry, though--he'll at once wind their arms together, seemingly intent on keeping up the casual contact between them.]

Don't take this the wrong way, or anything. But were you, like...bullied, or something, back home?

Huh? [ That surprises him so much for so many reasons.

He puts Cater doing though, lets him stand so he can walk and be swept up by his arm. ]

What...?

[ A pause, ashamed. ]

Is it that obvious? [ Izuku blinks a bit, looking off to the side as if to dissociate that thought - is he that pathetic? ] I'm not sure how to feel about that. A lot of that happened in the past. My past, but, honestly, it's been a while since any of that happened. I'm an adult now; I don't go through anything like that.

Hey, hey, I didn't mean anything by it! You just seem kind of, like, awkward about being complimented, that's all. I get it. It's really no big deal. We all have things from when we were kids that kind of stuck with us, right?

[Hoping to lighten the mood, he ribs Izuku lightly with his elbow.]

I just wanna make sure I'm not making you uncomfortable. I can get kind of carried away flirting, but I can reign it in.

[ It's - so much more complicated then that. He gets that feeling, a knot in his stomach like Cater's hit something in the same way Katsuki did on their last conversation before he ended up here. When he gets elbowed, Izuku falls into the flow of the conversation, completely ignoring what was just said. ]

You can't make me uncomfortable, if you do, I will let you know Cater. If anything, you're the only thing right now keeping me grounded in all of this.

[At that, Cater can't help but let out of a huff of a laugh, giving a playful click of his tongue.]

Well now, if you say it like that it just sounds like a challenge.

["Can't" make him uncomfortable. But no, Cater meant it when he said it wasn't his intention, so he keeps talking as they continue on toward their next stop on the stamp card.]

But, seriously. I know it's a lot...all of this. So, anything that comes to mind that'll help, just let me know. Even if that's just giving you something cute to look at.

[Wink.]

[ Izuku isn't sure what would help in this situation - it's literally out of some horrible, deranged fiction. ]

Maybe... [ The only thing he can think of at this moment in time, is maybe, to talk about it? ] We can talk about it more? In more of a... Logical sort of way? Is this something a lot of people can enjoy... If done the right... Way...?

Sure it is. I mean, some people are really, really comfortable here. And it's not all bad. Things just get...intense, sometimes. And you need to adapt to the rules. But as long as you don't get on the wrong side of the law, there's plenty of happiness to be found here.

[The bad probably outweighs the good for most people, and Cater wouldn't say that he's even remotely an advocate of Loving Duplicity Life...but, yeah, there were silver linings.]

You meet people you'd never get a chance to, being here. Like the two of us!

You're not wrong... I'd love to meet other people from worlds who have all kinds of different powers that I have yet to see... But at the same time... I do want to help the people who trapped us in here, but in a better way than this. [ He frowns, he can't imagine what sort of desperate situation the people here must be in for them to resort to such inhumane actions. They've talked plenty between them here and there, and as they approach the next area. Izuku keeps feeling this oncoming sickness as if everything good was going to come to an unfortunate end sometime soon. ]

I'm more worried if any one of my friends ends up here.. We are all Heroes, and I don't think any of us could stand for this.

[Cater can't help but glance at Izuku when he says he wants to help the people that trapped them there. It's all he can do not to let loose a bitter laugh, because he can tell that Izuku is being completely sincere when he says this. Hero, for sure. He'd fit in at Royal Sword Academy, no question.]

I don't know that they need any help. I mean, like, for them, this is an acceptable way to live.

[They didn't care what they did to the people they brought here. Didn't care about the rampant gang activity. This was all just...normal. Cater tries to say this all casually, without outright discouraging him from what is likely a very engrained mindset. There really wasn't any point in arguing that the people in charge here were simply beyond their reach. Even if Izuku could help them, somehow, Cater doubted they'd ever let him.]

But I get it--having friends from home here is complicated. On one hand, it's comforting to have people you know, but on the other...it's hard to see them get hurt.

[Most of the students at Night Raven College were pretty shady, but they were still mostly teenagers fully unprepared for this level of stress and trauma. Every time a new one of their ranks showed up, it was a bitter pill to swallow, knowing how life here would change them. Cater could only imagine how much worse it would be for a bunch of heroes..]

I'm sure they feel that way, [ If there is one thing he understood from his experiences, it was that deprivation and cruelty often came as a necessity when nothing else was given or offered or achieved. Even in the face of wrongness, justice wasn't his to decide - but he was a Hero through and through. Whatever was going on here, he just wanted to be better for all of them... He also really just wanted to go home. ] but for us and the people struggling all around us - I'm sure for them it isn't. That is more than enough reason to push to change, or try, something they are trying to achieve seems only possible by these... Horrible means there have to be better ways. Especially for everyone we care for and love.

[ And Izuku loves everyone. ]

I hope someone like me, can do their best here... To be honest, I keep thinking about it and it's making my stomach turn... I really am not best suited for this kind of thing.

[Cater's stomach was also churning--because he was so worried that this city was going to eat Izuku alive. Still, maybe he was underestimating the guy. It seemed like he'd lived a pretty intense life, just from what he was picking up, so...maybe he'd be fine. Maybe he'd learn to compartmentalize and pick his battles. All Cater could really do was trying and ease the transition for him.]

Like anywhere else, if you have the right people by your side, it makes everything that much easier.

[Wanting to lighten the mood again a bit more, he gives Izuku a wink.]

And hey! We were all virgins once. It gets easier with a bit of experience.
