[ Prudence understands this too; that hesitance, even if she herself has never really subscribed to hiding what she is. Part of that comes from rarely ever having to, because (back home, at least) she rarely ever goes out among mortals to begin with, but rather stays with her coven, her sisters, her school.

She does know mortals to be superstitious and small-minded, afraid of what they don't understand and willing to kill over it. History proves that, there were witch hangings and witch hunter even in her own small town.

This place is another matter, obviously. People come from all over, mortal or otherwise, but witches still appear to be a rare breed here. Aside from those from her own coven, Prudence has hardly met any. So, she smiles. ]
