It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the Deceit Gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the L.I.E.S. program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the Deceit Gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from L.I.E.S. after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues. You’re here! Finally! Welcome to Duplicity. After choosing a door and stepping through to the other side, the first thing that greets you are the enthusiastic faces of people in medical scrubs and pristine lab coats. Their enthusiasm translates to eagerness as they strip you of your clothes to perform a thorough examination—you will be healed, bathed, and given a paper gown to wear until your items can be processed and delivered to your residence later in the evening. You are also given a device that accesses the network as well as the time and location of orientation. If you enter Duplicity into the Up, congratulations! You’re a Dominant, which means you are immediately picked up by a limo after processing and taken to your highrise. Here, it is two Dominants per floor with separate apartments. If you enter Duplicity into the Down, congratulations! You’re a Submissive, which means you are directed towards public transportation with the address of the motel you’ll be living in. Here, it is two Submissives per room with a shared common space for all rooms. Enjoy your free time until orientation! Participation is mandatory by all new and old arrivals. Oh, and one more thing. It's fucking cold. Better bundle up. |
![]() After stepping through the door and participating in orientation, LIERS are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERS at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning. |
![]() While the societal climate between Dominants and Submissives remains somewhat neutral throughout Duplicity, there has been the occasional whisper of defiance and call for equality. Yet, demonstrations and visible proof of this unhappiness spreads faster by word of mouth on a day exactly when you need it most. Welcome to Autonomy, a "traveling" nightclub that is never in the same place twice. People wanting to attend only learn of its lucrative location and password hours before it opens for business. Tonight, I choose the third door will get you inside and into the temporary freedom club Autonomy has to offer. In this circle, there are no assigned designations and no consequences for taking a role that isn't the one given by society. So, a Dominant may become the Submissive they've always wanted to be—or vice versa. Dominants and Submissives alike are able to mingle without repercussion and be themselves. Food, drinks, and private areas for more intimate – or if your preference is sexual – encounters are provided. Donations are accepted at any point during the night to further Autonomy's attempts of spreading the fulfillment that comes from being untitled. On the night you choose to visit, Autonomy is holding a random lottery for temporary connections. When entering, you have the choice of submitting your name into this drawing to be paired with someone else in the club regardless of designation. A short while later, a message will pop up on your device with the name and information of your partner, and whether or not you choose to meet them is purely at your discretion. Having more than one connection isn't completely unusual either. |
![]() Gratification of being a successful Dominant or Submissive isn't necessarily simple. Learning curves are to be made, and mistakes will happen. Led by a Dominant and Submissive couple – Miriam and Victoria, who have been paired for twenty-two years – a monthly meeting for unattached Dominants and Submissives is held in the conference room of Morning Wood motel in the Down. The meeting starts a few minutes after nine and has no designated end time. The couple introduce themselves and explain the purpose of the meeting: learn the proper method for a new kink and possibly find your perfect partner. The space is intimate and well-stocked with refreshments. To begin, Victoria, while blindfolded, balances on her hands and knees with her back perfectly level. Her partner, when ready, places various items on the level surface–a full cup, a plate. The Submissive is meant to hold the items until the Dominant believes she's reached her limit. The exercise is one of trust and understanding. The demonstration is a short one, followed by Miriam removing the blindfold and soothing her Submissive. The words are whispered low and with care, clearly a method that is specific to this couple. The process is concluded with the pair handing out workups, videos, and answering questions. Anyone wishing to practice Purposeful Submission can do so in the open room with a random volunteer, aided by the couple, or can find someone to take to one of the rented rooms. Sex may follow any scene but is not necessarily included. Experimenting with unattached Dominants and Submissives allows for new relationships to form. |
Please read carefully. On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles based on birthdays; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, character will still have gone through the doors but assignments OOCly are still randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chose "left" or "right". When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass". This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice. To assign roles to characters for this TDM, use the following guide. All characters who have blue eyes or one blue eye and another color are Submissives. All characters who have brown eyes or one brown eye and another color are Dominants. [It takes Gaku completely out of his attempted character when Tenn criticizes him, riles up the usual annoyance tinged with the desire for his cooperation. And raw desire, he realizes, looking sternly, blankly at Tenn on his lap.
The hand that drummed on the script now grips Tenn's knee, tightly, enough to leave little red marks on his pale skin.
If Gaku thinks back, if he really considers things, they've done something like this before. Diamond Fusion. When they were all new to each other and barely practiced as a unit, but someone said sexy and they snapped-to. If he could do that, if the romantic in him could take a hike for the sake of performance, and he could exude sultry elegance and decadent sensuality for a video, he can do it here.

Tenn's spoken out of turn, though, and Gaku knows to continue the masquerade is to make good on the promise to punish him. His gray eyes go cold, icy, full of distaste and disinterest. Tenn is just a toy right now, says his persona, says the role. This may be about meaningful submissive actions, but the more Gaku thinks about it, the more it becomes about letting out a tension he's held in that he's just now putting a label to. How often does he give as good as he gets, with Tenn? How often does the younger man criticize him, insult him, rile him up with no release?
His hand trails up Tenn's body with all suggestion of lewdness, from his knee, to his hip, his stomach, his chest, his throat, and finally ends at his chin, where Gaku's fingers hold him firmly.]

His hand runs back down behind Tenn, and he shoves the younger man off his lap roughly, then reaches for his arm to bodily drag him to the bed. He'll shove Tenn forward, face-down onto the bed, his legs off the side. One of Gaku's hands grips Tenn's wrist, pinning it down beside him as he reaches for the other.]

because what alerts him to the fact that there's a shift in the general atmosphere of the room--
(because they've absolutely gone from this being a mere demonstration to something that tenn doesn't quite want to put a name to, just yet)
--a change in the dynamics, definitely, is the way gaku's expression is chilling, enough to make tenn bristle defensively, even as he masks it with a flippant smirk, shifts his weight a little bit while he's still perched on gaku's lap just because he can.
what confirms it is the way gaku trails his hand up his bare skin, and it leaves goosebumps in its wake, causes tenn to actually shiver visibly, arching into the touch when his hands linger for just a moment too long on his hip, his throat, up to his chin and then again along the side of his spine, no matter how much he tries to pass it off as being unaffected.

that whine that somehow manages to escape from tenn's throat is definitely not rehearsed, but you know what? it's fine. it's not quite how tenn expected for gaku to react in this situation, but tenn has always been adaptable, and this is merely just a small blip in the grand scheme of things, and if gaku throws him yet another curveball, it's fine, he can handle this. ]

[He smirks mildly, fishing for Tenn's other hand despite resistance and gripping it. This isn't what he wanted to do, and he's still not sure what he's doing other than playing this wholly by ear. Improvisational skill is important for an actor, and Gaku wasn't always the best at it, but he can prove his mettle now. Leaning down, he transfers both of Tenn's wrists to be pinned beneath a single sturdy hand, and puts his lips right by his younger partner's ear. Voice cold, but solid, he speaks in a low tone.]
How long have I let you get away with this attitude of yours? I gave you instructions, and this was mutually arranged, but you didn't hold up your end of the deal. What kind of idol are you? Just resting on your past achievements won't get you anywhere. [Pulling back slightly, he considers, then presses his lips to the back of Tenn's shoulder. What is he doing? He doesn't know. But he'll make Tenn feel something or another, and he will follow through. His lips part, and he bites at Tenn's shoulder unkindly before pulling back.] Brat. You need to know your place here.
[His free hand, curved so his nails touch Tenn's pale skin, runs down the man's back, leaving little pink marks of irritation in its wake. He won't dare hurt Tenn, but he'll make sure he knows Gaku means business. Whether it's acting or legitimate remains to be seen. His nails stop at the small of Tenn's back, and he pulls his hand away before bringing it back down swiftly, palm flat, against Tenn's backside.
Fortunately the younger idol can't see his face right now, because Gaku barely manages to suppress the embarrassment he feels at having just done that. There's definitely a touch of pink in his cheeks.]

-- that shouldn't sound as attractive as it actually is, and tenn rightfully should feel offended at the way gaku is insulting him right now, so tenn hisses, gnashes his teeth in frustration, and it's taking pretty much most of his self control for tenn not to kick gaku in the shin, in retaliation, at the risk of breaking this delicately precarious balance that they've somehow managed to find. ]

[ this is absolutely not happening according to plan - in any other instance, tenn would probably have scheduled and measured everything out perfectly, except that it's all shot right to hell now, because when gaku drags his nails down tenn's back, his body can't decide whether to arch into it or away from it, light pink tracks against pale skin, and he's absolutely also not expecting for gaku to actually smack his ass while he's at it.

Right. What the fuck.
The biting isn't what's getting to Gaku. Nor is the slap. What's getting to Gaku is Tenn's reactions. Unfathomably, the younger man seems to be getting something pleasurable out of this. Gaku doesn't really... understand. He's not turned on by what he's doing, not the actions themselves, but Tenn there, moaning and writhing? He's suddenly very aware of how attractive his bandmate is. He's also turned on by the reactions, by the mere suggestion of Tenn getting something out of this, and he hates it so much that he immediately switches the part of his brain that is frantically trying to reconcile everything OFF. He ignores it entirely, not letting himself slip from the role.
His hand raises again, and comes back down on the other ass cheek. Just like that. Firm. Hard enough, he notices, to leave the skin beneath pleasantly pink.
He's left Tenn speechless, in a sense, and that alone is hot enough to make Gaku question every decision he has made in the last several minutes. He's not supposed to be attracted to Tenn.

it's enough that tenn probably needs some time to unpack all this later, but when gaku's hand lands on his ass again, the sound sharp in the otherwise silent motel room, tenn bites back a muffled curse and buries his face into the sheets, lifting his hips unconsciously because it actually stings, heat radiating out across his skin from the point of impact.
but being a performer also makes him very aware of how his body looks, and even if he's not looking directly at gaku he can still feel gaku's eyes on him, on the curve of his spine that makes him look more submissive than he actually is, pale skin marred by pink tracks, the way gaku's pressing his wrists down into the mattress so that even if tenn squirms, it's not like he can actually move anywhere. the pressure isn't quite enough to leave marks behind, but it's--

Gaku's cat-like eyes are cold and steely, despite the concern he feels for Tenn's well being. The guy seems to like it. Why back down now?
He moves his lips by Tenn's ear, dropping his voice to a sensual purr.]
Make you, huh? You just want me to hit you more, don't you? You're into that. You'd probably let me do it until you're aching so bad you want to beg me to stop. But you can't do that, either. You're Tenn. You wouldn't know how to beg if your life depended on it. You're stuck like this, and I think I'll just keep going until I'm satisfied.
[He hopes he hits a mark with that, as his hand roughly pushes Tenn's head back down and he runs the curved fingers down the younger man's spine once more.]
