It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the Deceit Gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the L.I.E.S. program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the Deceit Gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from L.I.E.S. after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues. You’re here! Finally! Welcome to Duplicity. After choosing a door and stepping through to the other side, the first thing that greets you are the enthusiastic faces of people in medical scrubs and pristine lab coats. Their enthusiasm translates to eagerness as they strip you of your clothes to perform a thorough examination—you will be healed, bathed, and given a paper gown to wear until your items can be processed and delivered to your residence later in the evening. You are also given a device that accesses the network as well as the time and location of orientation. If you enter Duplicity into the Up, congratulations! You’re a Dominant, which means you are immediately picked up by a limo after processing and taken to your highrise. Here, it is two Dominants per floor with separate apartments. If you enter Duplicity into the Down, congratulations! You’re a Submissive, which means you are directed towards public transportation with the address of the motel you’ll be living in. Here, it is two Submissives per room with a shared common space for all rooms. Enjoy your free time until orientation! Participation is mandatory by all new and old arrivals. Oh, and one more thing. It's fucking cold. Better bundle up.

After stepping through the door and participating in orientation, LIERS are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERS at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning.

While the societal climate between Dominants and Submissives remains somewhat neutral throughout Duplicity, there has been the occasional whisper of defiance and call for equality. Yet, demonstrations and visible proof of this unhappiness spreads faster by word of mouth on a day exactly when you need it most. Welcome to Autonomy, a "traveling" nightclub that is never in the same place twice. People wanting to attend only learn of its lucrative location and password hours before it opens for business. Tonight, I choose the third door will get you inside and into the temporary freedom club Autonomy has to offer. In this circle, there are no assigned designations and no consequences for taking a role that isn't the one given by society. So, a Dominant may become the Submissive they've always wanted to be—or vice versa. Dominants and Submissives alike are able to mingle without repercussion and be themselves. Food, drinks, and private areas for more intimate – or if your preference is sexual – encounters are provided. Donations are accepted at any point during the night to further Autonomy's attempts of spreading the fulfillment that comes from being untitled. On the night you choose to visit, Autonomy is holding a random lottery for temporary connections. When entering, you have the choice of submitting your name into this drawing to be paired with someone else in the club regardless of designation. A short while later, a message will pop up on your device with the name and information of your partner, and whether or not you choose to meet them is purely at your discretion. Having more than one connection isn't completely unusual either.

Gratification of being a successful Dominant or Submissive isn't necessarily simple. Learning curves are to be made, and mistakes will happen. Led by a Dominant and Submissive couple – Miriam and Victoria, who have been paired for twenty-two years – a monthly meeting for unattached Dominants and Submissives is held in the conference room of Morning Wood motel in the Down. The meeting starts a few minutes after nine and has no designated end time. The couple introduce themselves and explain the purpose of the meeting: learn the proper method for a new kink and possibly find your perfect partner. The space is intimate and well-stocked with refreshments. To begin, Victoria, while blindfolded, balances on her hands and knees with her back perfectly level. Her partner, when ready, places various items on the level surface–a full cup, a plate. The Submissive is meant to hold the items until the Dominant believes she's reached her limit. The exercise is one of trust and understanding. The demonstration is a short one, followed by Miriam removing the blindfold and soothing her Submissive. The words are whispered low and with care, clearly a method that is specific to this couple. The process is concluded with the pair handing out workups, videos, and answering questions. Anyone wishing to practice Purposeful Submission can do so in the open room with a random volunteer, aided by the couple, or can find someone to take to one of the rented rooms. Sex may follow any scene but is not necessarily included. Experimenting with unattached Dominants and Submissives allows for new relationships to form.

Wangji wears a forehead ribbon that is Important to him because of reasons. Can he keep it on (or with him) during the examination, if he insists? He can deal with being stripped naked if he needs to be, but losing the forehead ribbon, even temporarily, would upset him.
(Obviously I'm fine either way OOC-ly, I just want to make sure how miffed he may or may not be. He won't fight for it or anything, but he will grab it and try to keep it on if he can, only taking it off for the bathing.)

[So, while the medics were very kind and understanding about him being blind (poor Tsuya, though) it would appear the people in charge of getting new "Submissives" to their quarters were a fair bit less so. Someone did inform him his mark was "black", so he assumes that's good, but still. Kind of hard to find your motel when you can't read (and aren't keen on revealing all your cards just yet). He waits until Tsuya chirps at him before flagging whoever is passing by down.]

Forgive me for being so rude, but I'm a new arrival and, well.

[And after getting all that sorted and his clothing back, there is one fairly well-dressed Sub in a kimono seemingly touring the Up with a red familiar Carbuncle walking at his side. He's not bothering to talk to any merchants, thankfully he was informed of that being a Thing here, but he is, apparently, totally content with wandering around in a strange city with no one but his familiar as a guide.

Weird, when you're blind, but it's not Jun's fault if people miss the momentary flash of magic in his eyes as he switches from Tsuya's perspective to his own every so often.

If he bumps into you (which can happen, usually on purpose), he smiles and gives a small bow.]

[Still one very well-dressed Submissive wandering around, though this time he is stopping to talk with a merchant here or there if they call out to him. Mostly he's just figuring out what he can buy where and how quickly he needs to look into finding someone to handle the whole "contract" thing.

He'd made sure that they put in their little bio about him that his connection would likely have to come find him, since physical indicators are kind of pointless, but really it's hard to miss a guy dressed like Jun with a carbuncle in his lap.

[Folded tight into his seat on the train tour for new arrivals, Q's fingers play silent notes across his kneecaps where the familiar weight of a laptop ought to press. It's a terrible inconvenience, finding oneself stranded in a debauched alternate dimension without so much as a spreadsheet to prop up between himself and the outside world. If he's not careful he'll find himself accidentally making eye contact with someone: unforgivable enough a crime on the London tube, who knows what unintended consequences it might have here.

Not that he's been stranded in enough debauched alternative dimensions to know the typical etiquette (though enough time spent listening to 007's strategic liaisons can feel not dissimilar). Perhaps it would be advisable to observe how the citizens are generally expected to deport themselves.

Q's spent the morning in a coffee shop opposite the elevator system, watching as strangers with pale stripes down their throats are lead, or dragged, or wrestled toward the elevator and disappeared to who-knows-where below. All in all, the experience is giving the tea he's drinking a rather sour taste in his mouth. So, after an hour or so he takes advantage of momentary quiet to go over to the elevator, running a curious palm across the panel (simple enough design, potentially remotely accessible) and finally stepping inside. He'd like to know precisely how people are treated on the lower end of the scale.

Not paying attention as the door starts to close, it's only the slight shift in the balance of the floor that alerts him to someone else stepping inside before they shut.]

[ when mikaela steps out of the building where he's given his designation, he's not actually cold. he doesn't shiver and there are no puffs of frosty air coming from his lips. but his eyes are alert, piercing crimson as they gaze around at the city. he shouldn't be here, he thinks. yuu isn't here and because of that, he needs to find a way back. but there's not a chance to start looking when he's being escorted into a limo. perhaps it's a good sign, but he doubts it. he glares at the driver, at his escorts, and makes no comment as he's driven to his high rise.

once there, he finds himself surprised. all of his uniform is laid out for him and the black patches needed to prevent uv ray poisoning are in place. a good thing because even with the cold, he'd still be affected. even his sword is here, which seems strange given they were pretty adamant about not letting him fight back against the people in lab coats.

after donning his clothes, he takes a quick tour of the apartment. it's spacious. bigger than his rooms in the castle at sanguinem, and he figures that has something to do with his designation.

really, there's no surprise that he's a dominant, he thinks. vampires are the dominant species back home, even with the japanese imperial demon army taking strides to combat them. and though he's practically a newborn when it comes to vampires, he's still the protege and fledgling of the third progenitor, krul tepes. he doesn't take pride in that as he grouses to himself. rather, he still hates her ( so-to-speak ) for turning him in the first place.

but there's no time for inward thoughts. he needs to search the city to see if yuu has been brought as well. he swore he wouldn't let himself be separated from him, and now he is. thus his only goal is to find a way back to him.

this means leaving the apartment. stepping out, he looks around him again and blond brows furrow as he takes in the city. it's just as well built as some of the human protected areas and shows no signs of apocalypse. a curiosity in itself.

stepping into the street, he's not prepared for the changing of the lights ( why would he be when very few people have access to cars where he's from ) and has to lurch back towards the sidewalk to avoid being hit. ]

[ the train is cramped, which is hell on mika's senses. he can smell humans all around him and it's making his teeth hurt as he hungers. but he suppresses the urge to comment or say anything, much less acknowledge his hunger, instead tapping the floor with one of his thigh-high boots. his uniform is pristine and he wears it with dignity, but there's something about the hunch of his shoulders that says he's not the happiest to be here.

that's putting things lightly, of course. he's pissed and it shows in the glint of his ruby eyes. everything is getting to him and though normally he's able to deal and not have things get to him, being here, separated from his precious yuu-chan again just makes him more irritated. eventually, he glances at the person next to him, eyes narrowed, and speaks with a flash of fangs. ]

[Kasa is no healer. Not anymore anyway. But there does seem to be an upset going about. Her Astro globe and cards long since discarded in a pile she moves gently through crowds, motioning to her throat to see if she can take a look at the bout of ailments that seem to be plaguing the lesser citizens of Duplicity.

It's no easy task. As her appearance may be daunting with scales on her face. And horns. And no voice in which to explain herself. And much like in Eorzea people don't understand the symbols she makes with her hands. Her tail swishes in slight annoyance. As different as this city is things in general seem to remain the same.

B - Cat People are so laaaaast TDM

[Kasaagi winds up at an interesting cat heavy establishment. Miqo'te. That's her first thought but... this is not really what this is at all.

Eorzea is not unknown for it's brothels and so forth but she has always been pretty good at avoiding them. Unfortunately such a skill set did not serve her on this new star. Kasa has just walked right in and being of such an excotic look she finds herself at the mercy of many comments and wandering hands.

Pale as fallen snow her cheeks heat up in an obvious scarlet. Her tail flicks away from obvious grabby fingers as they compliment her look and insist she joins their cast. She'd make a small fortune. Some people really dig people with scales, you know.

Kasa flushes and fumes silently as she pushes herself back up against the wall and can only offer small head shakes at each request. She should just... She really should just magic her way out of here. Her fingertips rest on the spine of the spellbook that sets heavy on her hip. Ifrit... yes... Ifrit would be a good choice. Burn it all down. Or maybe Titan. Titan never fails to protect her.]

C - Echoes and Dreams -- For Castmates

[It is midnight in the city of Duplicity. And there is a heavy mist in the air. There are gentle pings of a harp with a familiar echo of a song. The city is empty which is unusual.

Should you follow the gentle music you will find a pale scaled woman sitting upon a frozen fountain. There are purple lilies in her hair and the same faint shade of clothing. As you approach her the world becomes more muddled and the setting is a sky of familiar stars and the buildings that sit behind her are not of steel and glass but of stone and snow. With familiar family flags waving in the breeze.

Duplicity behind you. Something akin to home before you.

Echoes. Hydaelyn. Who can say the true cause. But to be certain this is naught but a dream.

Each approaching step reveals the dream a bit more. Discarded Astrologin cards are scattered upon the ground with a broken globe not too far off. Pages of scattered summoner calculations flutter past, the ink sparkles in silver and gold. And there is a sword, large and great leaning against the fountain. It drips softly and stains the snow dusted ground scarlet. Behind you, for this is your dream too, will likely be your own possessions. Tossed aside or placed carefully against the buildings of the city that has imprisoned you.

The small Au Ra woman watches your every step carefully. Her fingers flicking the taught strings still.

[Nero is a very bad Submissive, on the whole, which is part of the reason that he's up and out and about at such a late hour. Lacking a contract, the only thing the evening holds is sleeping on a lumpy bed in a cold and empty room, while trying to ignore the sounds of the neighbors through the paper-thin walls. He isn't tired. He's too restless to tinker with what little he has. So he has gone for a walk to clear his head and to possibly wear himself out... and he finds music. Music that is reminiscent of.... not home, so much, because he could not find it within himself to call Eorzea home... but of something familiar none the less.

Picking up on such familiarity, how can he not approach? And upon setting eyes on the source of the song, of the magic, he can't very well turn back. His curiosity was piqued, and for all that he might protest otherwise... he longed to speak with others that he might know. He doesn't know her, but who does she know? And what knowledge might she have?]

...You play for a city that won't much appreciate it. But perhaps that's a feeling that you're familiar with.

His gunhammer leans heavily against a nearby wall. Close by, tossed to the ground carelessly, is his gunblade and the helm of his armor. Both things that he only vaguely notices, inspiring only a small bit of wariness. Curiosity conquers all else.]

[This scenario is far less than optimal, but Mori is not the type to let any situation shake him. Adaptation is key, and even being kidnapped by some mysterious faceless organization for experimentation is no excuse to let oneself get ruffled. He’s certainly been in more difficult positions, and what kind of mafia boss would he be if he let something like this beat him? So the first and foremost priority is to assess the types of people who are his fellow captives and gather information. From there he can work up.

Presently the doctor is wandering the area outside the train station, putting on an extremely convincing show of being anxious and lost, slim hands wringing together as he paces. [Winnie isn't typically one to stay still for long herself. She's been wandering around exploring, but she's not doing anything to really hide that that's exactly what she's doing, poking her head into shops and wandering up and down alleys she probably shouldn't be wandering in alone.

But most people also see the full Victorian gown and think either this is some weird roleplay thing going on, or perhaps she's a little Odd, and people tend to not want to deal with Odd.

Mori's calls obviously get her attention though and she wanders over, hands clasped behind her back]

a. Here We Are Again
[As terrified as Armand is, as worrying as this is, he can't deny that this luxurious apartment filled with new technology isn't amazing to him. The apartment, no. He owns an entire island. He could live in a place such as this if he wanted. But everything else is amazing to him. It's so different from the 80's.

He's already learned he can't escape and if the powers here wanted him dead then they could have found a way. He wishes he could know more about them but until he does, he has to learn about what he's dealing with.

But when you come inside to your home, Armand is immediately on the defensive. It's better to kill before you are killed. If you are human, you find yourself with Armand in your face before you have a chance to react. The only thing that stops him from killing you is he realizes you're human and he shouldn't be doing that. Especially if you are not an evil person. If you're definitely stronger than a human, he will be trying to size you up and see if you're a threat. But there's the awkwardness of having your new roommate (who barely looks older than high school age) obviously being ready to attack you.]

b. Autonomy

[Armand was far too used to being a leader. It got old. He could remember when he had been the follower, when he had been the one to put his whole existence into someone else's hands. And if he gets to enjoy sex again then why shouldn't he enjoy everything? It does make him curious as well to see what people can do to him here with his healing. Will it feel as good as it did when he was human? To feel punished, to feel like someone else controls him...? Armand isn't certain he can let anybody do that to him, only if they're worthy, but it's still something he's thinking about.

He dances, he kisses whoever wants to kiss him, and it's easy and fun. It always has been easy. He doesn't need the food or drink. That isn't necessary. He doesn't need to win the lottery to get whoever he wants, he thinks, but when he's told he won the lottery he still gladly goes to them.]

[ The club reminds him of a red bar without the distinction of supernaturals roaming around inside it. Usually, it's a specific haunt for vampires and their latest attraction, none of which Larus has any interest in, and while Autonomy certainly lacks in most of these things, it doesn't mean he minds being there. In fact, this seems like a good place to get information, keeping to himself at the bar and watching everyone that passes by. That this city has marked him with a ridiculous tattoo only makes for a challenge; he'd prefer that to being handed everything, a gesture he wouldn't have trusted whatsoever. And what's more, when he's approached directly, he'd nearly forgotten about the lottery. Not exactly his best moment considering he hates being caught unaware.

[While he's technically supposed to "live" in the Down, it's far too cold to do any sort of exploring down there. The Up, however, seems to be just the slightest bit leaning towards the pre-Calamity side of Coerthas, and that's where Alphinaud has decided to set his sights for today. Or, at least, until it warms up a little.

His legs have taken him to the markets, and from there he can already tell the difference - the produce and meats are of much better quality than down below, and everything just seems more clean and organized in general. Much like the difference between Ishgard and the Brume. It's a comparison that makes his delicately pointed nose scrunch in disdain.

Trouble only seems to come when he moves to ask a man about an interesting book. The man running the stall doesn't seem to be too willing to even discuss a book with a Submissive - or, at least, one that doesn't appear to have a Dominant with him.]

I beg your pardon, but I fail to see what a simple inquiry about an item has to do with my assigned designation. I am not asking to purchase it, but to simply acquire more information before potentially purchasing it.

[ There's a sight for sore eyes, though Aymeric is immediately concerned that he was brought here at all. He almost wants to convince himself he's seeing things, but he knows Alphinaud well enough by now to recognize the tell-tale hairstyle even through the throng of people flooding the markets. He also overhears the conversation as well as the unkind words sent his way, the standard response to every unaccompanied Submissive.

He's quick to interfere, holding an arm between them before matters can escalate. ]

Please do forgive him. He is new to this world and has yet to learn of its customs. There is no reason to make threats over a simple matter of education.

They hadn't heard from him since, leaving his sister in quite a panic in spite of her best efforts not to show it. i. HERE WE ARE AGAIN

[Being ushered around and told what to do is not something Eizen is very good at even if he’s trying to be as polite as he can be as he sneers at the medics helping him. Though once he’s free and on the train ride, things become more bearable.

It’s not a ship, but exploring is part of his nature, so he’ll take it. However, seeing the roles and the people content with who they are, well… he’s not buying this. People who are content to serve others— okay so it’s one thing if they’re doing it of their free will, but it's another to be told he has to for a blind decision he made. He’s also not fond of the mark that’s been placed on him, but what can he do other than just get upset about it.

As long as someone doesn’t try to tell him what to do, he’ll be fine. Though it’s clear he’s a little uneasy about it as a result since he doesn’t really need to be singled out about this.

I suppose this is all part of my curse.

ii. AT THE DOWN

[Eizen notes the food here is awful. Right now, he's thankful he’s a Malak because he doesn’t need food to live. Though when he tries to grab a beer just so he has something, he does cough at the awful taste not at all happy with what he's been given.

[He’s happy to have his free will, but being treated like trash just for this designation he’s been given is sort of grating on his nerves. With a sigh, he finishes his drink, but he’s unhappy about it. Clearly, he’s going to be breaking a lot of rules playing this role and quite frankly, part of him is okay with it. It’s honestly no fun if everything was just handed to him, right?]

iii. AUTONOMY

[Whether it’s by chance or by actual snooping (probably both) Eizen is able to get access to the ‘traveling’ club. Here, he’s visibly more at ease since he doesn’t have to prance around so many rules. Not that he minds breaking them, but here he is.

Here he is with a bottle of rum at his disposal to drink as he watches others. He’s not human, so sex was never necessary for him, but he’s curious about it. Humans are passionate and he knows they love to court. He’s seen his own men on his ship try to bring women back countless times in their fits of passion (or horniness) that have overcome them. He likes women himself and finds them aesthetically pleasing, but never has he felt the need to court. Of course, Malakhim can have relationships, but it’s not quite the same and the emotion of suddenly feeling like another Malak has a ‘relationship’ with one another, well it’s a very sudden feeling that no one really tries to argue with.

So he’s curious. He wants to know more from the humans (and nonhumans who have desires) here. Grabbing a glass he pours a second bottle of rum for someone who’s eye he’s caught while sitting at a booth.]

Plus, this is one of those rare places where Submissives aren’t treated like so many unwilfully-tethered Malakhim back home. It’s refreshing to see.

And, if by some off chance someone finds his company equally “refreshing” and he gets a row out of it -- in the dojo or the bedroom -- then this expedition will have been worth his time, now won’t it?

Anyway. With the events of Patara not quite indiscernible yet in his personal rearview mirror, as before, he’s content to mingle for a while, until that moment when he rounds a particular corner and--

There is nothing about this city that Caspian sees good in. Even its magical transportation is tainted by the unconscionable divide in its inhabitants. As his captors speed him around the city, showing off its dubious wonders, Caspian sees an old woman, kneeling, and in frustration he looks around to see if no native of this place will offer her comfort.

Rising from his seat, Caspian moves to drop to one knee before her. "Please," he says, "there is no need for you to debase yourself. My seat is yours, if you will have it."

Her ardent refusal only deepens his frustration, and he turns to one of his fellow travelers. "How can you stand for this?"

I. Here We Are Again

Juno can tell almost as soon as he arrives here that this place is about as cheap as the free mints by the checkout corner of a dime store. It oozes sex, corruption, and the sort of poor decisions that can only be made by those with nothing to lose. That's not the part of the city they send him to, of course. Most of Juno's initial impression is of the shiny, the clean, the Up.

He hates it.

When he breaks away he slips into the Down, into the slimy, dirty underbelly of the city, and while he's not about to let himself relax there, some of the particular tension associated with having too much space and not enough gathered dust eases away from him. In the Up he can see the sky, no dome, and it's so wrong that Juno can't get out of there fast enough. In the Down he's going to skulk about and try to figure out what he can, preferably in the shittiest bar around.

Once he's had a couple of drinks, he's ready to start asking questions. Like "What sort of radiation effects do you get here?", "What's a lady got to do to find someone to keep him warm?", and sometimes "What's the law enforcement around here like?"

II. Lies Travel in Company

It's the kind of scene that makes Juno wish he was anywhere but here, or maybe dead. He watches the Submissives that board almost as much as he pays attention to what they see outside. If he's a little anxious and twitchy throughout this experience, well, that's hardly his fault.

He gets off when the inhabitants of the Down do, feeling the need to be on something that's not moving almost as much as he feels the need to get away from all of this. Juno leans his shoulder against an ally wall, but if he notices he's being watched he'll just shrug.

"It seems like this is cleaner than all of what was going on there."

III. End in the Discord

This is much more Juno's style, and he's not afraid to make that very obvious. It isn't that he's more Submissive than Dominant — he is, but that's not the point. It's that these kinds of societies and roles aren't very enjoyable, and he'd rather off avoid the whole thing. Third door, sure, why not, or no door at all.

Here he can mingle like everyone he talks to is a person, and he's submitted his name to the drawing because why the hell not. Juno's also halfway through his glass of whiskey and ready to flirt with most people because he'd rather not think right now, and sex is a great way not to think.

"I'm surprised they didn't pass out mascara and have us all draw lines on our throats," he says, then, "Can I buy you a drink?"

[Whilst arriving in this place has all been terribly confusing and strange and, yes, downright frightening if one were to be brutally honest, for as long as he's caught up in all this he supposes he ought to try and make the most of it. It's hardly the first unusual thing that has ever befallen him, and yes, true, this one might just take the biscuit, but at the very least he considers himself capable of rolling with the punches.

Perhaps. Possibly.

The last thing he recalls with any clarity is awaiting an appointment with the gallows, so compared with that, this isn't such a terrible fate. He may not understand quite how this all transpired, but at the very least, he's no stranger to the experience of periods of amnesia. Just one more thing to add to the list of ever-mounting concerns, to the failures he can't help but attribute to himself even if, on this occasion, he hasn't quite managed to discern how this is all his fault, yet.

But no matter, those thoughts are for later. For now he's been situated in his temporary accommodation, he's had his clothes returned to him and, he's quite sure, now that he's manage to collect his fractured thoughts and is properly attired, there's a drink around here with his name on it.

The one problem with this plan being that as a submissive he has no coin to his name, but that's something that can surely be circumnavigated. For example, by locating a bar and approaching the first person he sees, flashing them the very best of his debonair grins.]

[ The only reason she was here was because it was mandatory. (Even back at school, she would've found a way out of it somehow.) But what was more important was that it was mandatory for everyone. If someone from home was here as well, she'd see them here, there was no doubt about that in her mind.

She's paying less attention to all the explanations of this place, and is instead looking around the room, trying to catch a glimpse of every person in attendance. She's not particularly fussed about getting caught, either.

[ Tonks wasn't exactly in a partying kind of mood, but this place promised a sort of secret organization kind of feel and if there was one thing the Auror knew, it was that some of the best people were always the rebels.

[ If there was anything more insulting than this, Yennefer had not come across it. After being handed a pamphlet for some workshop on finding and training Subs... Yennefer promptly tossed it away and forgot it. At first, she had been pissed off. Denying all ability to act rationally. However... after her own childish temper tantrum in her "residence", Yennefer puts her best bullshit face on and leaves without looking back. It had been only a short while but since arriving, she had found little difficulty in adjusting to the world. She wondered, was this how Ciri felt hopping between worlds? A brief bit of hope would die out that the girl was here — but the Gods or creators of this would better had hoped her girl was not in a place like this.

Yet... something nagged at her, like an itch she can't quite scratch. That pamphlet — that date. Perhaps that will be the first clear demonstration she has of what is "expected". It was something that was a personal interest as well as a profession — her knowledge wise beyond her years (so her appearance would lead you to believe) so inside she goes to examine what already existing competition there was!

The staff was properly dismissed, Yen pretty confident in the way she walks around to scan the contents of the shelves. She never thought of herself as an herbalist, but anyone can brew a potion if you had proper ingredients and the know-how. Yennefer looks back as she picks up a small potion clearly labeled for an... ah... aphrodisiac. The cork bottle is popped off and boldly, her words carry to you. A poor innocent bystander! ]

He still wasn't entirely used to any of it. This city and all of its differences from home were far and away from what he knew. Even the explanation he'd been given rang through his mind like a confusing echo that left him turning in circles. The limo ride did little in the way of giving him time to digest it all, and far too soon, he was let out in front of a manicured walkway that lead to what was supposed to be his new home.

He noted it, but still, he turned away.

As he walked, the driver who had brought him there stiffened, his voice filled with concern when she asked if there was somewhere else he would have preferred being taken.

"Ah, never you mind. Your kindness is appreciated, but unnecessary. This small fox is a wild one, after all. I'm prone to wander where I like."

Of course, he doesn't know where to wander in a place like this. Being given too much of something sometimes leaves a person with no place to start; it seemed he was no exception. What he needed was a companion---perhaps someone who knew this place and its intricacies---to help him along. It seemed he wouldn't be returning to his master anytime soon, after all.

The first he came across would suffice, he thought. If not, he would find another. Ignorant of the outcome, he smiled at the stranger.

A place where one can be themselves.

It sounded nice in theory. To Kogitsunemaru, still very new to the workings of this city, it sounded ideal. Autonomy seemed a place to find answers---maybe even allies---and he was sorely in need of both. It had been a few days now since he'd been thrown into this place, and he felt there was still much he had to learn. Being a so-called "Dominant" had responsibilities that went beyond the pale, even with its readily apparent perks. Getting away from it all in order to understand it was simply his best option, as far as he was concerned.

His concerns hadn't stopped him from putting his name in the lottery at the door---rather, they were the main reason why he'd chosen to do it to begin with. The danshi knew full well the benefit of building bonds. Oftentimes, friends were what one needed most in times of strife. This certainly qualified.

When his phone chimed with a new message, a stranger's name greeted him. Scanning over the crowd, he saw others were getting similar messages, not at all a help in assisting him to spot the one who would be his "partner" for the evening. With a small sigh, he decided to take a chance---a chance that took onger than anticipated as he adjusted to using the device to begin with.
