It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the Deceit Gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the L.I.E.S. program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the Deceit Gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from L.I.E.S. after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues.

After stepping through the door and participating in orientation, LIERS are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERS at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning.

While the societal climate between Dominants and Submissives remains somewhat neutral throughout Duplicity, there has been the occasional whisper of defiance and call for equality. Yet, demonstrations and visible proof of this unhappiness spreads faster by word of mouth on a day exactly when you need it most. Welcome to Autonomy, a "traveling" nightclub that is never in the same place twice. People wanting to attend only learn of its lucrative location and password hours before it opens for business. Tonight, I choose the third door will get you inside and into the temporary freedom club Autonomy has to offer. In this circle, there are no assigned designations and no consequences for taking a role that isn't the one given by society. So, a Dominant may become the Submissive they've always wanted to be—or vice versa. Dominants and Submissives alike are able to mingle without repercussion and be themselves. Food, drinks, and private areas for more intimate – or if your preference is sexual – encounters are provided. Donations are accepted at any point during the night to further Autonomy's attempts of spreading the fulfillment that comes from being untitled. On the night you choose to visit, Autonomy is holding a random lottery for temporary connections. When entering, you have the choice of submitting your name into this drawing to be paired with someone else in the club regardless of designation. A short while later, a message will pop up on your device with the name and information of your partner, and whether or not you choose to meet them is purely at your discretion. Having more than one connection isn't completely unusual either.

Gratification of being a successful Dominant or Submissive isn't necessarily simple. Learning curves are to be made, and mistakes will happen. Led by a Dominant and Submissive couple – Miriam and Victoria, who have been paired for twenty-two years – a monthly meeting for unattached Dominants and Submissives is held in the conference room of Morning Wood motel in the Down. The meeting starts a few minutes after nine and has no designated end time. The couple introduce themselves and explain the purpose of the meeting: learn the proper method for a new kink and possibly find your perfect partner. The space is intimate and well-stocked with refreshments. To begin, Victoria, while blindfolded, balances on her hands and knees with her back perfectly level. Her partner, when ready, places various items on the level surface–a full cup, a plate. The Submissive is meant to hold the items until the Dominant believes she's reached her limit. The exercise is one of trust and understanding. The demonstration is a short one, followed by Miriam removing the blindfold and soothing her Submissive. The words are whispered low and with care, clearly a method that is specific to this couple. The process is concluded with the pair handing out workups, videos, and answering questions. Anyone wishing to practice Purposeful Submission can do so in the open room with a random volunteer, aided by the couple, or can find someone to take to one of the rented rooms. Sex may follow any scene but is not necessarily included. Experimenting with unattached Dominants and Submissives allows for new relationships to form.

Please read carefully. On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles based on birthdays; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, character will still have gone through the doors but assignments OOCly are still randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chose "left" or "right". When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass". This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice. To assign roles to characters for this TDM, use the following guide. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of January to June, their designation will be Dominant. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of July to December, their designation will be Submissive. For characters with an unknown birthday, their designation will be Dominant. Arrival into Duplicity has not been used as a prompt as it is a rather large part of introducing the game and will be saved for the first in-game log. But feel free to thread it on the TDM. Also, any locations throughout Duplicity are available for TDM prompts as well! Please remember to mark any necessary content, and have fun!!

"Yeah, knowing how to control ki does result in a pretty big jump in power compared to someone who can't," Videl admitted. "From how it was explained to me, it's the life force that everyone has within them, so yeah, anyone should be able to use it if someone taught them how."

Of course, apparently dead people also had ki which didn't make much sense to her when she thought about it too much, so she wasn't going to.

"The life force that everyone has? Huh. Kinda surprising I've never heard about it then." Sure, keyblade wielders had their own sources of power, but it was still surprising that nobody had ever learned to harness this method.

But then again, it wasn't like she, or even Riku and Sora, had been to every world. Who knew what else was out there?

"So how long have you been learning?"

"I hadn't heard about it for years, so it's not that surprising. It's actually not something that's all that well known where I'm from," Videl said, though once again she had to wonder why that was. Sure, her father had contributed somewhat to people thinking it was just tricks, but before that?

Well, that was another thing to worry about and figure out once she was out of this mess. "I've been a Martial Artist since I was a child, but I only learned about Ki and how to use it about a month or so ago."

"So you had a leg up from the start. What can you do now that you couldn't before, then?" Martial Arts was cool enough, in Kairi's opinion. She'd kind of like to learn, honestly...

Videl blinked. "Yeah, I guess I did. After seeing Goten and Trunks though I kinda forgot about that..." After all, two kids who were better than almost everyone on the planet had a tendency to completely destroy one's perspective.

... Oh right Kairi asked her a question. "Well, my strength is much higher than it was before I learned how to use my ki, but the main thing that someone would see as obviously different is that I can use it to fly."

And everything else abruptly became completely irrelevant.

"You can fly?" Literally the only reason Kairi didn't ask for a demonstration was because they were still inside the train. "That is so cool!"

Videl laughed, knowing exactly where Kairi was coming from with that reaction.

"Yep! The only reason why I learned how to control my ki at all is because I needed to know that to fly." And she really should've insisted that Gohan taught her more about controlling ki, but something about hindsight and perfect vision and all that.

"That is totally a perfect reason to learn it!" Granted, super strength and stuff sounded awesome too, but flying. No regrets.

"And it seriously only took you a month? Really awesome."

Videl blushed at the compliment. It was weird having someone praise her like that for something she could do rather than, well, who her father was. It was nice.

"Actually, it only really took me a week. Or a day if you just go by when I learned how to hover above the ground, I guess."

[princessascended]

"Okay, now you're just bragging." Seriously, though, a week? Just a day to hover? Even if she had an advantage with her martial arts training, that was incredible.

"So what'd you learn the rest of the month?"

Videl blushed a little at the comment about her bragging. It was kinda true, but it wasn't like she was trying to bolster Kairi's opinion of her. "Actually, not that much. During the rest of the month I did figure out the whole part about being able to enhance my strength with it, but after I learned to fly I went off to train on my own."

She paused, before realizing she should probably explain why. "There was a marital arts tournament coming up, and both the guy who taught me how to fly and I were going to enter, so it didn't seem right for both of us to be training the entire time if we were going to be meeting in the ring."

Videl laughed. "Though with how much I found out he was holding back around me, it probably wouldn't have mattered if I was training with him the entire time. I probably would've gotten much stronger than I did on my own."

Honestly at this point Kairi's opinion of her couldn't possibly be much higher anyway.

"Wow, he was that strong?" She paused a moment, considering that, and then decided to ask the obvious question, even though she had a feeling she wasn't going to like the answer.

"Why didn't he fight Buu?"

"Well... he did," Videl said. "Multiple times. When everyone decided that they needed to make the kids fight Buu, we thought Buu already killed him." She paused, shaking her head. "Well, I was being stubborn and thought he was still alive, but everyone else was pretty sure he was dead. I ended up being right, though he didn't end up fighting against Buu again until I and almost everyone else already got killed. I'm not sure of the details on why, but apparently he got brought to another planet to do some sort of magical training... thing to try to get him strong enough to be able to beat Buu."

"Oh. Well, I guess that sort of makes sense... I mean if he got whisked off to the training too quickly for anyone to know what happened, it makes sense that nobody'd be able to figure out he was still alive." But man, those results...

"It really seems like whoever was giving him the training could have told you guys what was going on, though."

"That would've been a big help, yeah," Videl said. "Though I don't think guy who was responsible for that even knew that anyone else was alive that could handle Buu, so that might be why they didn't come to where we were and mention it."

After all, Kaioshin had to have known where God's Temple was, being a deity himself. Or at the very least have had easy access to it.

"I guess that could happen. If he thought Buu had gotten you already or something..." Still, she can't help but think he'd have been a lot more eager to get done with whatever training he was doing if he knew everyone was still there and counting on him.

"Well, from what Gohan told me after, he came back to fight Buu again as soon as he was finished with the training, but by that point everything had, well, gone to hell." Well, as soon as he was told it was finished, anyway, but some details of that incident were still too fuzzy to accurately reflect on now.

[princessascended]

"I guess you can't expect to get done with training like that overnight, can you?" That's still pretty awful, though. Buu having killed everyone off and two seven-year-old boys having to fight a monster like that? You couldn't really think up a worse scenario.

"Probably not, though how long the part of it that actually helped him get strong enough to stand a chance against Buu did only take about a full day. Buu just moved that quickly."

[princessascended]

"He wiped you all out in less than a day?" Sure, the Heartless tended to accomplish the same thing, but there were usually hundreds if not thousands of them attacking a world. This was just one creature!

[justicedevil]

"It was a little longer than that, I'm not sure when exactly that training started," Videl admitted. "Though most of that time Buu was just going around destroying things pretty randomly. He could've destroyed the whole world in an instant if he wanted to."

Which then he did eventually, but almost everyone was already dead at that point so it honestly hadn't mattered that much at that point.

"That's insane. How do you even fight something like that?" Destroying worlds was one thing, but at the very least you had to reach the world's keyhole and take its heart where she came from. Just being able to wipe one out in an instant with raw power...

It was unthinkable.

[justicedevil]

"By being strong enough to also do that. At least, that's what I think is going on with them." Meaning those who were actually strong enough to fight Buu. Including the kids. Then again, Videl hadn't exactly explained how the plan was going to go to Kairi, but even after seeing it the idea of fusion was still pretty nuts to her.

[princessascended]

"Okay I don't think that's a level of strength that even makes sense to me." Like that just goes straight up into ludicrous status. If that kind of power's getting thrown around, the only thing she could think to do would be to curl up somewhere and hope the good guys won.

"It barely makes sense to me, and I was there seeing people with that power fighting," Videl admitted. But at least Kairi probably had some idea of why Videl was pretty sure she was never going to catch up to the likes of Gohan and the others.

She couldn't imagine ever having the power to destroy a planet.
