It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the Deceit Gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the L.I.E.S. program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the Deceit Gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from L.I.E.S. after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues. |
![]() After stepping through the door and participating in orientation, LIERS are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERS at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning. |
![]() While the societal climate between Dominants and Submissives remains somewhat neutral throughout Duplicity, there has been the occasional whisper of defiance and call for equality. Yet, demonstrations and visible proof of this unhappiness spreads faster by word of mouth on a day exactly when you need it most. Welcome to Autonomy, a "traveling" nightclub that is never in the same place twice. People wanting to attend only learn of its lucrative location and password hours before it opens for business. Tonight, I choose the third door will get you inside and into the temporary freedom club Autonomy has to offer. In this circle, there are no assigned designations and no consequences for taking a role that isn't the one given by society. So, a Dominant may become the Submissive they've always wanted to be—or vice versa. Dominants and Submissives alike are able to mingle without repercussion and be themselves. Food, drinks, and private areas for more intimate – or if your preference is sexual – encounters are provided. Donations are accepted at any point during the night to further Autonomy's attempts of spreading the fulfillment that comes from being untitled. On the night you choose to visit, Autonomy is holding a random lottery for temporary connections. When entering, you have the choice of submitting your name into this drawing to be paired with someone else in the club regardless of designation. A short while later, a message will pop up on your device with the name and information of your partner, and whether or not you choose to meet them is purely at your discretion. Having more than one connection isn't completely unusual either. |
![]() Gratification of being a successful Dominant or Submissive isn't necessarily simple. Learning curves are to be made, and mistakes will happen. Led by a Dominant and Submissive couple – Miriam and Victoria, who have been paired for twenty-two years – a monthly meeting for unattached Dominants and Submissives is held in the conference room of Morning Wood motel in the Down. The meeting starts a few minutes after nine and has no designated end time. The couple introduce themselves and explain the purpose of the meeting: learn the proper method for a new kink and possibly find your perfect partner. The space is intimate and well-stocked with refreshments. To begin, Victoria, while blindfolded, balances on her hands and knees with her back perfectly level. Her partner, when ready, places various items on the level surface–a full cup, a plate. The Submissive is meant to hold the items until the Dominant believes she's reached her limit. The exercise is one of trust and understanding. The demonstration is a short one, followed by Miriam removing the blindfold and soothing her Submissive. The words are whispered low and with care, clearly a method that is specific to this couple. The process is concluded with the pair handing out workups, videos, and answering questions. Anyone wishing to practice Purposeful Submission can do so in the open room with a random volunteer, aided by the couple, or can find someone to take to one of the rented rooms. Sex may follow any scene but is not necessarily included. Experimenting with unattached Dominants and Submissives allows for new relationships to form. |
Please read carefully. On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles based on birthdays; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, character will still have gone through the doors but assignments OOCly are still randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chose "left" or "right". When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass". This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice. To assign roles to characters for this TDM, use the following guide. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of January to June, their designation will be Dominant. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of July to December, their designation will be Submissive. For characters with an unknown birthday, their designation will be Dominant. Arrival into Duplicity has not been used as a prompt as it is a rather large part of introducing the game and will be saved for the first in-game log. But feel free to thread it on the TDM. Also, any locations throughout Duplicity are available for TDM prompts as well! Please remember to mark any necessary content, and have fun!! |

Gilgamesh / Fate / Dominant (Sorry if this is short I was just so excited to post LMFAO)
« « « END IN THE DISCORD
[ -- of course, is it truly possible that any mere nightclub in the modern world could hold the interest of a King who has experienced all Earthly pleasures during his reign? Gilgamesh rather doubts it, but this is certainly a far more likable setting than those wretched Grail Wars. Certainly lesser creatures do have a tendency towards artifice and the denial of their base impulses, and watching them squirm and struggle with them is always extremely entertaining, as with, for example, priests who call pleasures sins. Fortunately he, the King, has no such inhibitions and encourages the pursuit of all pleasures, even some of a rather amoral sort. Rather, he simply is the arbiter of all morality and the creator of the original law codes, so he dictates justice of his own accord.
well, he is not certain yet whether this world will be Interesting or not, but so far it is looking quite wholesome and good by his standards and Gilgamesh at least enjoys the free food and drinks. of course he submits his name to the lottery, too, because why not? maybe some mongrel can provide the King with some entertainment. while waiting, he just reclines in the club and looks relatively comfortable. waiting for that message from the prospective match. ]
Of course -- [ musing aloud!! hello, some random person nearby? ] it is rather cheap swill compared to a King's treasury, yet lowering one's self to a commoner and mingling has its own entertainments. And this location does stir the joys of a man's soul and spirit -- don't you think so, mongrel?
no subject
Are you really a king?
( it comes out of curiosity, holding a cup and looking a bit flushed. it's not because of the liquor though, and af bites at his lip, wondering if it'd be weird to get to his knees and show royalty exactly the kind of respect they deserve. in the back of his head, he can hear kaj criticizing him for being a needy slut, but he's not doing anything. yet. so, all he does is smile to punctuate the question. )
i couldn't tell if they have their canon bling still so for the TDM i'm winging it i guess???
Hmph, who are you to ask me that, mongrel? [ he tsks, offended, but still slowly sipping his drink, black snake pupils narrowing on this newcomer. he indicates his golden jewelry -- although in this setting, he is not wearing the full armor. ] Do you not recognize absolute royalty when it sits before you in all its glory? Of course I am the King. I am the original. Revere me.
[ -- yeah, leaving that open-ended. that is a terrible attitude, Gilgamesh! but it might actually make some headway here of all places, what with the nature of this world. not that he is necessarily thinking of that either way. it's simply his natural commanding and domineering aura that he takes with him everywhere, regardless of circumstance. he looks this stranger up and down and smiles thinly at that flushed face. just who is this stranger, hm? ]
no subject
it's all right even if they aren't a "match" by the lottery's standards. perhaps whoever is brave enough to approach either of them when they're together is worthy of their combined attention?]
... I wouldn't know. [you'd have to have a functional human soul for that.] I'm glad to see you're amusing yourself.
[he's a submissive. it's pretty obvious with the long mark down his neck disappearing past the opening of his shirt. despite the fact he is a priest, kirei looks stylish enough for the setting.
when you can't experience joy anywhere you search often for joy everywhere. in his youth, he tried clubs.]

Kotomine Kirei, how fortuitous that I would encounter you in such a place. [ Gilgamesh cannot help grinning rather like a cat who has been into the cream. this is really too exquisite. ] Ahahaha, rejoice, Kirei! It seems we are in a world which exists to make a man acknowledge his darker desires and the pleasures he denies himself. I am quite certain you will amuse me greatly in this setting.
[ kirei is really entertaining for a man with no soul, okok. ]

[ this is a decided change from the last time he'd seen gil, but as strange as this place is, and as out-of-place as he always feels in cities, it's a chance to be with him again. that's enough. ]

fuckboyexterior. his friend is here, as well?for a half second, he is quiet, actually open-mouthed with shock. but then Gilgamesh recovers, laughing uproariously. what wonderful fortune that they should meet again outside of the Grail War! ]
Of course. [ he smiles in a way that is familiar between them. ] Though to greet you properly, I should once again use all the contents of my treasury against you, an honor reserved only for my friend.
[ A SLIGHTLY UNORTHODOX GREETING BUT. GILGAMESH-LOVE: Enkidu is the one person equipped to handle it. ]

I don't often find myself in these places either. But... [If this is a place that allows equal ground over that of her being fixed into a position of submissive, well, she was curious.] One will see how this night in such a place will turn out, no?
hell yeah
Of course a peasant would speak in such a manner. [ Gilgamesh smiles at her beyond his cup, although it is condescending and not a warm expression. still, he was somewhat sincere in saying he derives great amusement from mongrels such as this. and he is happy, after all! ] Hmph, for a King, such as myself, I do not "see how" matters turn out. I create my own destiny. Who are you that addresses the crown with that small voice of yours?

[The voice that replies is just as vibrant and strong as Gilgamesh's own, though others may think it's a stupid idea to approach a man who teeters on the edge of crazy on a good day. Then again, Ozymandias was never exactly sane himself, in some ways. And finding Gilgamesh here is rather comforting- seeing a familiar face amongst the ones back home at Chaldea, regardless of whether or not this is the King of Heroes he knows.]
This society builds itself upon the dark desires of mankind. To deny this is to deny the simplest aspect of life, and in doing that, one only makes themselves an annoyance. It is careless to simply assume things will change; falling into step with how things are becomes more natural with time. [Ozy should know, it's something that occurred often for him and his people.] If things do change, it can easily falter to one side of the scale rather than the other. Mankind is fickle. [He hums, eyes searching the crowds with curiosity, before flicking back to Gilgamesh.]
But of course, this is all obvious to you already, Golden King. [Spoken with clarity, Ozy easily reclines in his own chair nearby, a part of him already looking right at home. This entire scenario is very reminiscent of his days as pharaoh, and to disrupt it is a childish and stupid idea. Perhaps he'll even be given entertainment as the night moves on.]
sdjdhhs this made my day!
is he the same King of Heroes? well, every Gilgamesh comes from the Throne and is simply adapted to fit the time and circumstances of his summoning. he has a general awareness of what has been written onto the other timelines and the legends of the other heroes, regardless of what his last summoning was, so he is familiar enough with Ozymandias and with the goings-on of Chaldea, even if Chaldea does not feel as immediate to him. ]
Indeed, one would be have to be a lesser man than a King such as yourself.
[ commence mutual masturbatory ego-stroking. ]
The dark desires of the masses may no doubt provide fodder for such a place, yet a King is one who is honest enough to admit of his own desires, and thus no dishonesty between the self and the outer world may occur. Simply, it is an impossibility. Utterly irrational and foreign to one who has seen the deep. As our legends exist in all eras, any space becomes a prospect for becoming a spectator to the taste of others' desire. The dreams of humanity are never boring, the world being my garden from the beginning of time.
[ Gilgamesh follows his gaze in looking out at the mingling masses. He loves philosophy, so he sounds quite calm and pleased, taking another drink in an altogether unhurried manner. he looks back, meeting that golden gaze. indeed, they are very at home. ]
Though I do not ascribe worth to humans, I simply cannot hate the emotions and treasures produced by them. The fascination they stir is endless.

welcome to the future, Neria Surana, it's a strange place. at least the drinks are still full of alcohol and...some things taste normal to her, at least. it's not backwater tavern swill. she should be grateful.
not decorated as a Submissive, she brushes her hair back behind one pointed ear while she nurses for her second drink, her eyes scanning the room and looking for...well. anyone of interest. no familiar faces (which she is mostly grateful for) but plenty of vibrant, lively people, and many of them very, very beautiful. she senses magic and mana, and there are...spirits nearby? it's all very strange, and she is stirred from her reverie by a sudden voice nearby. a man with golden hair and bright eyes catches her attention, if only because--
mongrel. the word stands out above the din and she doesn't initially notice that he's thrumming with mana. her eyes narrow. ]
It's stirring something. [ irritation. ] What was that about a treasury? [ and a king? ]
no subject
A King should not repeat himself for any man or woman, but rejoice, for my mood is gladdened by the good cheer of this world. [ no asinine Grail War! ] I am speaking of course of my vault with all the world's treasures.
[ he spreads his arms expansively. he is wearing a lot of gold. not tacky or anything, all this bling. ]
Though what is that I sense in you? [ eyes narrow, and he leans back, looking a little mischievous. ] A magical signature? If only slightly, it does provoke some interest.

[Most of Hakuno's memories of the King of Heroes are from the Timeline where she died, but she always feel strangely caught between ease and confused apprehension hen she sees him. Usually, that's because he is lounging ominously on a throne or preparing to fight, but he's...
Familiar is the best word, she supposes.
It's nice to have something familiar.]
You seem to be pretty much in your element, all things considered. Settling in well?
no subject
[ well. maybe two, if Gudako is here.
but mostly this mongrel. just blundering her way through this new world blithely walking up to all kinds of dangerous individuals and probably getting into all kinds of trouble. although even if she is, that would not be Gilgamesh's concern at present. needless to say, though, he might have memories from a couple of different incarnations of this Master. ]
Of course I can find pleasantness in such an environment. It promises grief, hardship, and fruitless exertion for others. As a King, though it would be shameful to lower myself, I am called to step down from my throne to exert my energies in preparing the masses for this place by means of removing obstacles such as their naive chastity or other impediments that would not be conducive to an honest society.

Our new prospects is not dissimilar to the sort of company you keep normally.
[ a pause, then, almost apologetic, ]
If you are looking for entertainment, there is none for me to offer.
bling off --
It is not dissimilar for me, but what of you, hero of charity?
[ he laughs. it is not... exactly rude. maybe even slightly companionable. maybe. ]
You need not worry, on such matters, but how far will such an attitude advance you? It does not do for a man to be ill at ease and out of his element.
[ it's a rather sorry state for Karna, particularly. Gilgamesh wonders if this Karna recalls just how ridiculously fish-out-of-water he was when he was Jinako Karigi's Servant in the Moon Cell -- a state even Gilgamesh might have pitied, with that worthless lump of a Master to whom he was still so dedicated. will he be set to such an equally ridiculous tune here of all places? ]

A familiar voice saves her that trouble. Her head turns and there he is. The bloody King of Heroes reclining amongst the hedonistic celebrations looking as if he belongs here and nowhere else. But that is his gift, isn't it? He is always regal. Always secure. Arturia lets out a little annoyed breath and glares at him over the rim of her glass. Just her luck that she should find him here of all people. ]
I find little joy in it, King of Heroes.
[ That voice is sharp and cutting, the voice the one that Gilgamesh has called 'a virgin being deflowered.' Golden hair and bright eyes. Oh, how similar they are and yet so different. Not that she would acknowledge the similarities. ]
I am not surprised that you do, however.
no subject
Of course you would say that, Saber.
[ he looks coyly over at her from over his own glass of wine, tilting his head. ]
Given you are prone to shouldering burdens that are far too great for any human to bear and denying your darker desires.
[ it is a little unusual, speaking to her away from the battlefield, in the intimacy of a club like this, sans blades and armor. it could almost be companionable, if not for the austere chilliness she always exhibits. ]
But it is pointless to do so here, don't you think? I understand that this world operates on one's more negative feelings. Of course you are speaking to the one person in all of creation who is equipped to assist you here. How fortunate for you that we should meet again, my dear beloved Saber.

Waver hears him from a few paces away through the tightly packed crowd drinking and talking, impossible to see past at his small stature-- but he's sure. He knows that voice. And he's moving before he thinks better of it. The shock and strange, incongruous spark of something almost like relief at something he recognizes amidst the unfamiliarity of this awful place push him forward before better sense can actually catch up, just to make sure. ]
A-archer?
[ He's so shocked, he just blurts it, staring at Gilgamesh with wide eyes and a strange expression -- something between horror, incredulity, and sheer astonishment.
Someone else bumps into him from behind (it's a popular place, crowded, and he just stopped in his tracks like an idiot), and Waver stumbles a little closer, catching himself on the back of Gilgamesh's chair. The ambient lighting is appropriately dim for the context, but this close, it's not hard to see the vertical mark of Waver's designation crawling down Waver's throat to disappear beneath his shirt collar. ]

Oh? It is Rider's Master?
[ -- well, not here, perhaps. those terms are meaningless enough here, as is Gilgamesh's own class designation. but that is how he thinks of this boy.
he tilts his head, lifting an eyebrow at the presence of this boy. Rider's Master always was a squirmy, stuttering creature, a small mongrel who was hard to take serious stock of at a glance, but at least Gilgamesh remembers him as having something of a powerful spirit... somewhere in there. ]
To think I would see you here.
[ he with-holds comment for the time being on that vertical mark. but somehow it isn't exactly surprising. ]

It would be a poor king who spoke so coarsely, and a poor fool who would do so to the face of Eorl's blood. I must conclude you are no king, and little enough of a man, who revels in such spite and vanity.
Well-suited to this place, in all. Are you native?

But when she sees the name of her partner, she knows she can't leave him running wild in this club. It's not that hard to find him in the crowd of the club, once she knows what to look out for, talking grandly on and on to some poor soul caught in the crossfires of his ego. ]
Gilgamesh!
[ Calling his name, she tries to attract his attention but it seems she's too small to be seen and heard over those mingling about. It looks like she'll have to get closer, and she squeezes her way through the crowd, wriggling and squirming towards the King of All Heroes like a tadpole. ]
Gilgamack!?
[ And of course, it's right when she reaches him that she stumbles and trips, slamming face first right into the stomach of humanity's first hero. ]
