It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the Deceit Gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the L.I.E.S. program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the Deceit Gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from L.I.E.S. after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues. |
![]() After stepping through the door and participating in orientation, LIERS are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERS at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning. |
![]() While the societal climate between Dominants and Submissives remains somewhat neutral throughout Duplicity, there has been the occasional whisper of defiance and call for equality. Yet, demonstrations and visible proof of this unhappiness spreads faster by word of mouth on a day exactly when you need it most. Welcome to Autonomy, a "traveling" nightclub that is never in the same place twice. People wanting to attend only learn of its lucrative location and password hours before it opens for business. Tonight, I choose the third door will get you inside and into the temporary freedom club Autonomy has to offer. In this circle, there are no assigned designations and no consequences for taking a role that isn't the one given by society. So, a Dominant may become the Submissive they've always wanted to be—or vice versa. Dominants and Submissives alike are able to mingle without repercussion and be themselves. Food, drinks, and private areas for more intimate – or if your preference is sexual – encounters are provided. Donations are accepted at any point during the night to further Autonomy's attempts of spreading the fulfillment that comes from being untitled. On the night you choose to visit, Autonomy is holding a random lottery for temporary connections. When entering, you have the choice of submitting your name into this drawing to be paired with someone else in the club regardless of designation. A short while later, a message will pop up on your device with the name and information of your partner, and whether or not you choose to meet them is purely at your discretion. Having more than one connection isn't completely unusual either. |
![]() Gratification of being a successful Dominant or Submissive isn't necessarily simple. Learning curves are to be made, and mistakes will happen. Led by a Dominant and Submissive couple – Miriam and Victoria, who have been paired for twenty-two years – a monthly meeting for unattached Dominants and Submissives is held in the conference room of Morning Wood motel in the Down. The meeting starts a few minutes after nine and has no designated end time. The couple introduce themselves and explain the purpose of the meeting: learn the proper method for a new kink and possibly find your perfect partner. The space is intimate and well-stocked with refreshments. To begin, Victoria, while blindfolded, balances on her hands and knees with her back perfectly level. Her partner, when ready, places various items on the level surface–a full cup, a plate. The Submissive is meant to hold the items until the Dominant believes she's reached her limit. The exercise is one of trust and understanding. The demonstration is a short one, followed by Miriam removing the blindfold and soothing her Submissive. The words are whispered low and with care, clearly a method that is specific to this couple. The process is concluded with the pair handing out workups, videos, and answering questions. Anyone wishing to practice Purposeful Submission can do so in the open room with a random volunteer, aided by the couple, or can find someone to take to one of the rented rooms. Sex may follow any scene but is not necessarily included. Experimenting with unattached Dominants and Submissives allows for new relationships to form. |
Please read carefully. On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles based on birthdays; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, character will still have gone through the doors but assignments OOCly are still randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chose "left" or "right". When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass". This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice. To assign roles to characters for this TDM, use the following guide. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of January to June, their designation will be Dominant. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of July to December, their designation will be Submissive. For characters with an unknown birthday, their designation will be Dominant. Arrival into Duplicity has not been used as a prompt as it is a rather large part of introducing the game and will be saved for the first in-game log. But feel free to thread it on the TDM. Also, any locations throughout Duplicity are available for TDM prompts as well! Please remember to mark any necessary content, and have fun!! |

Noctis Lucis Caelum | FFXV | Submissive
[Listening to the tour was probably the most surreal thing that had happened to him so far. Which said a lot, really. There were aspects of the Up that seemed so familiar, reminded him so much of the bustle of Insomnia.
Which only makes it harder for him to look out the window, watch this city that is so much like home and so different rush by. He shrugs deeper into his jacket, head bowed to hide his face and the delicate line that mars his throat now. Listening to the way these people talk about submissives is a little bit nauseating. He was royalty, he had servants, but he'd never dream of treating people like that.
Not that anyone here knew who he was. He's... supposed to be dead, after all.
When the train comes to the end of it's tour in Riddler's Square and the subs are meant to exit the train he resolutely stays where he is, arms crossed over his chest, blue eyes bright with defiant anger. He's about to cause a scene. Save him?]
Table it For Later
[Time doesn't make it any easier.
He keeps thinking it's going to be corrected somehow, that they'll adjust things and he'll go back to just being a displaced prince (not king, not yet, it can't be real). Not this... whatever he is.
It's a constant fight, torn between actually zipping up his jacket to hide the mark and only wearing his t-shirt because it's so godsdamned hot. He has no idea what he's getting into, not really, but there's a conference room and people are encouraged to go and usually that sort of thing means there's free food. They always feed people at these sorts of things, it's the only way they can get anyone to come (or stay awake).
Once he gets inside and sees the uh... demonstration though he's not entirely sure he wants to stay. He turns, tries to make his way back towards the entrance without drawing too much attention but trying to leave in the middle of things does exactly that.]
Can I get through?
travel in company
Yet this place holds no more charm for her than either of those, particularly not when contrasted with the blatant poverty of the Down. A fellow Submissive, she is not jealous of those whose luck had leaned the other way as much as she is angry that the division exists at all.
But no matter how desperately she longs to rebel against this appalling injustice, even Cassandra realizes that now is not the time for action. She's distracted from her own dark musings by the sight of the young man next to her, stubbornly crossing his arms and making no motion to join his fellow Submissives as the train comes to a stop and they stand and begin to shuffle slowly out. It's obvious what he means to do, but while she feels for him, she can't stand by and let him draw unwanted attention and punishment to himself in what is certain to be an ultimately pointless act.
A hand with a grip like iron descends on his arm, and Cassandra pulls upward, gently but irresistibly. ]
Come. We must go.
[ And in a lower tone, head bent near his ear: ]
There will be time for that later.
no subject
Not a Dominant then.]
They can't do this to people.
[And he should be able to stop it. If he were any kind of prince he would stop it but here he is pouting like a spoiled brat. He grits his teeth and pushes to his feet, leveling an icy glare at the others on the train, he's so mad he doesn't even breathe until he steps off the train and the air rushes out of him in a soft growl.]
no subject
Apparently, they can.
[ But she says nothing more until they're off the train, the crowd thinning a little as people begin drifting off. She glances around, stopping at Noctis' side. ]
I understand your anger. I am angry, too.
[ Maker, she's angry, and part of her - a large part - wants to lash out as badly as he does. She takes a deep, steadying breath, then lets it out. ]
But we must be cautious. Foolhardiness will only make things worse.
no subject
Caution. Of course, again caution. Astrals, she sounds like Ignis.]
But it's not right.
[It's not fair, just like everything else. He shouldn't be taking on these people's problems so readily. He has enough on his plate, he needs to go home.
But he also knows he can't just sit by and watch these kinds of injustices go on.]
There has to be something that can be done.

LIES but are they really not going to get into trouble??? (also unsure of canon point so SHRUGS)
definitely not a place to be alone in, though he'd never admit to being afraid. so, he quickly turns around and practically slams into everyone filing off to get back on. he waves an arm at noct, yet to notice the look on his face. ]
Hey! This is our stop. [ he thinks. don't blame him for knowing nothing, okay. he just doesn't want to lose him; iggy and gladio would be pissed if he did. ] Are you gettin' off, or should we ride this thing back where it came from?
Only because he can't get the chocoboy in trouble (pffft canon points)
He tries to keep his eyes on the blond but he does lose him for a moment and that's enough to propel him into surrendering. He shifts over to the seat Prompto had vacated, eyes on the door. As soon as he pokes his head back in Noctis breathes out a sigh of relief and surrenders to the flow of the stragglers.]
They won't let us ride it back. [Huffed and he's clearly annoyed, scowling back over his shoulder. Is it worth starting a fight? He'd say yes if he thought there was any way they'd get anywhere with it but there were civilians everywhere and the staff was following orders. Getting people hurt wasn't going to fix anything.]
This is so messed up.
he has his back no matter what!!! bring on the trouble
best to keep the mood up when morale is low, or who knows where they'd end up. ]
We'll figure it out. No worries, buddy. [ he eyes noct's matching submissive mark and then lets his gaze wander elsewhere. ] Maybe there's someone we can ask about all this stuff so it's, uh, not so messed up.
[ fat chance, but he's trying to look on the brighter side of whatever hell this is. ]

[But he doesn't sound convinced. He's too busy looking around the Square, watching the market side of things come to life as the day winds down towards night. It's unsettling, really, and he's pretty sure he's never seen anything like this in all his trips around Insomnia. Any parallels he'd drawn between Insomnia and the Up were dashed once he saw all of this.]
Stay close..? [Not like he's worried or anything but the idea of losing Prompto in this maze of run down buildings is... okay yeah a little scary.]
We need to find a way back. Or, at least, find Specs and Gladio.

Travel in Company - I have to
[Aranea stood in front of him as the train stopped, arms crossed over her chest. She knew that he was royalty and was tempted to tease him about it, but she saw a glimpse of the mark he had.
She wasn't overly fond of the ideas of this place, she believed that people should live life the way that they want and not by the rules of others.
Still, they needed to at least play along so that they could figure out what was going on and get out of here.]
Get your ass up. We're walking from here on.
I'm so sorry he's from before they meet her and also he's being bitchy
But then she's making demands and he blinks up at her, startled by how forward she is. His jaw clenches and he scowls at her, folding his own arms, slouching further in his seat, defiant as a cat avoiding bath time.
Who the hell does she think she is?]
My apologies for the slow tagging. Life bit me.
[She leans in over him, frown on her face.]
Defiance isn't the way to figure out what in the hell is going on here and how to find your little friends or get back to Eos.
[She knew that he could be rather stubborn, but this was ridiculous. She stood back up and waited to see his reaction.]
No worries, hun! I'm sorry he's such a brat.
She gets up in his face and it only makes his hackles rise, glaring up at her. But she's right, getting himself in trouble is only going to make it harder to find the others. He pushes himself to his feet, does his best to push past her and storm off the train, muttering under his breath as he goes.]
What would you know about it.
She'll kick him into a proper Prince. 83
someone needs to.
Travel in company - hope it's okay!
[Luna is usually proper, Luna is usually in control of her own emotions and able to not show them so easily and control herself. Even when she was brought here without her consent, even when she was marked and told she was a ‘submissive’ she simply stared right at them and went with it, ready to figure out a way back home.
But all of that goes out of the window the moment she sees Noctis. She jumps at him, arms wide open to hug him- and hopefully not taking him too much by surprise.]
SCREE- of course! I am so sorry he's very early canon
So it takes him a moment to connect the joy and excitement he hears in his name with her and by then she's got her arms around him and-]
Luna!? [Startled but his arms close around her without hesitation. The implications of meeting her here will hit him later, for now he's just so glad to see her again.]
I was starting to think I was never going to get to you. [Half-laughed, still too early in the journey to really understand the obstacles that would come later.]
awww baby!!!
What he says… confuses her, since as far as she’s concerned Noct had just gotten to Altissia, and the plan was for them to be reunited as soon as she convinced the Leviathan to grant her blessing to the true king. But maybe that’s what he means, that after all this time they were so close only to be brought here, and so she doesn’t think much of it yet.
She pulls away, a smile on her face. Probably the first time she’s smiled in this place.]
I feel guilty about how glad I am to see you. Please, forgive my selfishness but I am so happy to see your face, even if it’s in this horrible, confusing place.
tomb #2, for maximum pain.
I'm glad to see you too. [A weak smile, an almost embarrassed half shrug.] Guess that makes us both selfish.
[And for the moment? He's okay with that.]
;o; a baby

as promised, table it [dom assignment]
[Even as he says this, the blonde speaker is stepping aside for Noctis. He appears to be paying attention but not particularly. The note of boredom in his voice is audible- but really, stranger, are you backing out so soon? Wouldn’t you want to look down this hill you’re about to go falling over?]
no subject
[He looks so unsettled, glances back over at the women demonstrating and frowns.]
interested.
[This is not a thing he wants to be learning.]

[Laurent turns just enough to glance at Noctis sideways. His sweep of sunshine hair is like Luna’s, and his eyes too bear a superficial resemblance- but that aside he’s inferior to Lunafreya Nox Fleuret in every other way. That’s just the truth.]
I wouldn’t run out there alone, if I were you.
[Buddy, no one likes school, and yet, education persists. You wanna learn here or you wanna learn while being dragged out to Riddler's Square?]
no subject
was that a challenge?
The implication that he's some sort of coward has him setting his jaw, firm and stubborn, arms crossed over his chest, hip cocked like every defiant teenager in history.]
I can handle myself. And I don't care if people interested in this bullshit are interested in me.

Table it for later (dominant designation)
The food was... fine, and the demonstration...rather disturbing, but he found himself tuning most of it out (even if the information was good for a designated dominant)..until he heard a familiar voice. He stood up and looked around, finally finding the source of that painfully familiar voice. He couldn't help the quirk of his lips as he approached him.]
Lost, Your Hignness?
no subject
Specs?! [He turns face him, smiling briefly, relieved but also... he doesn't want anyone else stuck here, it's bad enough Prompto's here.
But Ignis doesn't have that tell tale mark down his throat and that makes Noctis tilt his head, thoughtful, appraising.]
Huh... who'd've thought.
no subject
[There was a relief there, seeing Noctis, healthy and safe. He examined every bit of his charge, surprised at the mark on his neck. However, composed as always, Ignis did not let his surprise show.]
How long have you been here, Noct?
no subject
[And the way he says it, softer than the defiance from earlier, says a lot about how worried he really is. He gestures vaguely in the direction of the elevator.]
Prom's upstairs. He might be content living on cup noodle and potato chips but I was kinda hoping... [A shrug, he trails off, Ignis knows exactly what he was hoping. A solid meal without working for it. Ah well. And then his gaze drops to Iggy's throat again and he goes back to the first question.]
You don't have one. [He taps his own throat to indicate the mark. The fact that Prompto is in a room upstairs is indication enough that they're both marked.]
