It's discouraging to think how many people are shocked by honesty and how few by deceit. Yet, solace is found in the lies we tell each other, comforted by the peace of knowing that we're not alone in our depravity, and once on this path, sin itself becomes the lesser of two evils masked in a cloud of normalcy. This is how Duplicity has functioned since the beginning. The divide of power and social standing is overt in that Dominants influence the decisions made both publicly and privately while Submissives cater to the rules presented to them. It is the way of Duplicity to assign random designations at birth with no leeway in altering what has been given. Climate in the Up is far stricter than that of the Down; violating outlined personas for a Dominant or Submissive while in full view of others is punished by degree of infraction. In the Down, many tend to turn a blind eye to these sorts of offenses. To counteract the discovery of the Deceit Gene – a natural "negative" response to all stimuli – the L.I.E.S. program was founded. The program had been designed to introduce new subjects to the current environment and test for the Deceit Gene through immersion in Duplicity's standing society. Sexual impulses and encounters increase the chances of detecting the gene within these individuals. Participants are typically released from L.I.E.S. after a year; however, results have remained unsatisfactory and testing still continues.

After stepping through the door and participating in orientation, LIERS are assembled together in the Up for a tour of Duplicity in its entirety. Seats are in pairs and randomly assigned to Dominants and Submissives alike. Traveling from Fiddler's Square, the train journeys through various parts of the Up, showcasing society and examples of lifestyle. Along the way, frequent stops are made; a variety of passengers can be seen exiting and entering the doors. A Dominant with a kneeling Submissive takes a seat near the front of the train at one stop. A small group of Submissives board and sit closer to the LIERS at another, all seemingly content in their roles. As the tour continues through the Up, the train passes close to the Market and White Wall Bridge and zips by North Park before heading into the Down and bypassing Red Wall Bridge and South Park. The train makes a "final" stop at Riddler's Square, where inhabitants of the Down are instructed to return to their temporary housing. Those who live in the Up are permitted to stay on the train and revisit the same locations while returning.

While the societal climate between Dominants and Submissives remains somewhat neutral throughout Duplicity, there has been the occasional whisper of defiance and call for equality. Yet, demonstrations and visible proof of this unhappiness spreads faster by word of mouth on a day exactly when you need it most. Welcome to Autonomy, a "traveling" nightclub that is never in the same place twice. People wanting to attend only learn of its lucrative location and password hours before it opens for business. Tonight, I choose the third door will get you inside and into the temporary freedom club Autonomy has to offer. In this circle, there are no assigned designations and no consequences for taking a role that isn't the one given by society. So, a Dominant may become the Submissive they've always wanted to be—or vice versa. Dominants and Submissives alike are able to mingle without repercussion and be themselves. Food, drinks, and private areas for more intimate – or if your preference is sexual – encounters are provided. Donations are accepted at any point during the night to further Autonomy's attempts of spreading the fulfillment that comes from being untitled. On the night you choose to visit, Autonomy is holding a random lottery for temporary connections. When entering, you have the choice of submitting your name into this drawing to be paired with someone else in the club regardless of designation. A short while later, a message will pop up on your device with the name and information of your partner, and whether or not you choose to meet them is purely at your discretion. Having more than one connection isn't completely unusual either.

Gratification of being a successful Dominant or Submissive isn't necessarily simple. Learning curves are to be made, and mistakes will happen. Led by a Dominant and Submissive couple – Miriam and Victoria, who have been paired for twenty-two years – a monthly meeting for unattached Dominants and Submissives is held in the conference room of Morning Wood motel in the Down. The meeting starts a few minutes after nine and has no designated end time. The couple introduce themselves and explain the purpose of the meeting: learn the proper method for a new kink and possibly find your perfect partner. The space is intimate and well-stocked with refreshments. To begin, Victoria, while blindfolded, balances on her hands and knees with her back perfectly level. Her partner, when ready, places various items on the level surface–a full cup, a plate. The Submissive is meant to hold the items until the Dominant believes she's reached her limit. The exercise is one of trust and understanding. The demonstration is a short one, followed by Miriam removing the blindfold and soothing her Submissive. The words are whispered low and with care, clearly a method that is specific to this couple. The process is concluded with the pair handing out workups, videos, and answering questions. Anyone wishing to practice Purposeful Submission can do so in the open room with a random volunteer, aided by the couple, or can find someone to take to one of the rented rooms. Sex may follow any scene but is not necessarily included. Experimenting with unattached Dominants and Submissives allows for new relationships to form.

Please read carefully. On each Test Drive Meme, there will be a section noting character roles based on birthdays; these will vary each TDM. On an IC level, character will still have gone through the doors but assignments OOCly are still randomized. When applying, there is a section of the application that denotes whether the character chose "left" or "right". When participating on the TDM, there will be a third option. Players may link either a top level or a thread (five or more comments from their character) from the TDM and title the link as "Door Pass". This means that the player is choosing to take the designation that they were randomly assigned on the TDM, rather than taking the designation of a door. If the player decides to select a door rather than use the pass, then they are trying their luck; they may get the same designation they had on the TDM or the opposite. Once the application is submitted, players can't change their choice. To assign roles to characters for this TDM, use the following guide. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of January to June, their designation will be Dominant. For characters with a birthday falling in the months of July to December, their designation will be Submissive. For characters with an unknown birthday, their designation will be Dominant. Arrival into Duplicity has not been used as a prompt as it is a rather large part of introducing the game and will be saved for the first in-game log. But feel free to thread it on the TDM. Also, any locations throughout Duplicity are available for TDM prompts as well! Please remember to mark any necessary content, and have fun!!

Lies Travel In Company

A train ride is a good place to collect one's thoughts, have a quiet conversation, or just stare out the window and let your mind drift.

Right now Kairi is really wishing she could go with the second option rather than the first or third, because wow are the thoughts rushing through her mind not exactly ones she wants to dwell on. This place is... really getting to her.

So it's a good thing she's got long-standing practice at putting on a brave face, smiling when she's all twisted up inside, and being cheery. She smiles hopefully at anyone who passes her, hoping she'll get a seatmate to talk to. With all the people hopping on, it's gotta work eventually, right?

Aaaaand now she's in a club. This is most definitely not her usual scene, and she's all too well aware of how obvious that is as she can't help but look around with eyes that are just shy of staring.

Still, at least she can sit down at a table and just settle for a moment. And with all the interesting things to look around at, she still doesn't have to let herself think about all this, which is something she is still trying desperately to postpone.

She tosses her name into the drawing without a second thought. While she might get an unpleasant surprise this way, she's pretty sure she can handle anything that shows up. Besides, it didn't mention anything about going off anywhere private. She can just insist they stay out here in the main club area to get to know each other.

And she really needs to make a few friends.

This is an interesting matchup.

"Miss Kairi, I assume?"

The voice comes from a bit up and behind and- my, that man is tall. Akande looks down at her with a vaguely amused expression, looking down at his device and then back at her to confirm the match.

"I think someone has a sense of humor." Because talk about opposites, at least on first glance.

The second her device had sent her the message that someone had been assigned to her, she'd been eager to meet them. The second she'd seen the name in question, she'd realized that she was probably about to make a complete ass of herself.

And then she actually saw the guy, and her mouth fell open. Good grief, how was anyone allowed to get that big?

"Ah... Mister Oh-gun-die-muh..." And ass of herself made. There was absolutely no way that was the correct pronounciation. She covered her forehead with her palm, in no way hiding her embarrassed flush. "I'm so sorry, I probably butchered that. Please, sit down."

Okay, okay, she could still salvage this. First impression, probably not great. But she could pull it back! Putting on a smile, she lifted her head to look at him, trying to ignore the fact that he looked like he could bench-press ten of her without any effort.

"So, I'm guessing it's been as long a day for you as for me, huh?"

Wow. She was just batting a thousand today.

"Oh-Gun," corrects the man, "dee-mu. 'Mister O' if it is too much for you."

No joke intended. At least she's polite about it, unlike some he can think of. But regardless, he takes that seat, polite smile pressed on to his face.

"I suspect not as long as yours. What brings you to this place, after such a length? I would almost think you too tired."

She mouths the syllables after it, a little too obviously trying to memorize it so she doesn't embarrass herself again. At least not in the same way.

A soft laugh comes from her, and she shakes her head. "Maybe I should, but I'm trying to get to know people, and I'm a little behind where I'd like to be, especially in a place like this. Besides, I'm a little wired. I don't think I'll be getting to sleep until I'm ready to pass out."

Phillip is not super used to clubs. Eighteen isn't old enough to get into most of the clubs in his world. But he's familiar enough with the idea and is comfortable enough with it that he doesn't stand out nearly as much. In a way, it's kind of exciting, all the people and how very, very heated (in a good way) some things are already getting.

Still, when he spots who he's been paired with, he can tell she's a little out of place. So... he'll try to behave. And not flirt too much. But still probably flirt a little.

"Kairi, right?" he says, sitting down next to her with a little smile, "I'm Phillip. It's nice to meet you."

It's kind of sad how easy it is to tell that this isn't where Kairi usually goes. Her eyes stick to the more visible places, lest they accidentally slide over something she really doesn't want to see. She's seated all-too-straight, clearly not comfortable, and she's clearly distracted by trying to keep an eye on things. All in all, obviously not having fun.

But she smiles warmly at him when he sits down, partly because that's what she does, but mostly because hey, someone to concentrate her attention on.

"Yep, that's me! Nice to meet you too, Phillip." Phil? Hmmm, maybe not that, thanks to Sora's stories she'll probably start picturing a short goat man if she calls him that.

Great, now the mental image just popped into her head regardless.

Honestly she's so uncomfortable that it kind of verges on adorable. Phillip will try to keep his expression tamed, and thank god he's an actor because then he has half a chance to do that.

"So, are you new here too?" he asks- he feels like she kind of has to be, but then again, maybe there are some people who never adjust to this place. Or who are just new to clubs. That's... theoretically possible here, he's sure. Even if he has a hard time figuring out that could happen.

"Yeah. On the other hand I feel like everyone I've talked to today has either been new here, serving me drinks, or a guide. So, probably not a surprise, right?" That was supposed to be a joke, but honestly now that she thinks about it she realizes it's actually a little strange. Wouldn't it make more sense to try to convince some locals to come up and befriend them, help them settle in? Why wouldn't they do that?

Great, one more thing to worry about. But hey, maybe he's had a different experience.

"Have the locals been chatty with you?"

[Aqua has no idea what's going on. That's literally why she's come to this club, somewhere that apparently isn't beholden to the weird rules thrust upon her by this world.

Not that Autonomy isn't just as baffling by design. Aqua isn't much interested in designations that aren't Keyblade Master or Your Majesty! She's not sure she wants to understand them anyway...but they're at least more of a background noise here. She's not sure what compels her to enter the drawing either, other than the vague hope someone who knows her will receive her name. Kind of a long shot!

So it's a shock when the opposite happens. She sees Terra and a location pop up on her device, along with another extremely familiar name, though to her, well...there's no way a four year old would be here.

When she arrives, she gives Kairi a brief, awkward smile, scanning the area not so subtly for Terra as she speaks.]

Excuse me, have you seen a boy pass by here...? His name is Terra.

[Terra doesn't normally body his way through crowds. It's rude, and surely the Master would be rolling in his grave if he found out. Or, whatever passes for a grave when they burst into sparkles in that Disney way because you can't show an actual death on screen.

Either way, Terra see's Aqua's name come up with a location, and he bodies people aside as politely as he can muster, ignoring the fact that there happens to be a third name on the list of temporary connections.

Terra catches a sight of blue, and half shouts, mostly because it's a nightclub and it's hard to hear in the first place?]

[At first Kairi turns her head to answer the woman. Then she blinks in surprise as... something floats into her mind. A memory? A dream? A memory of a dream? She honestly can't tell, but it's an image of the woman bent over and smiling at her.

She sits there for a moment, looking a little slackjawed, before she shakes her way out of it.]

Uh, sorry about that. No, I-

[And she's promptly interrupted by a... that is not a boy. A young man pushing his way over towards them, shouting what she assumes is this woman's name.]

Well, think we just found him.

[It's true, Aqua almost doesn't hear him, but he is...extremely hard to miss considering his stature, and Kairi seems to have a better ear.

Kairi, who is terribly familiar herself, but Aqua has long shooed the familiarity away because the name and resemblance must surely be coincidence? And the current matter with Terra is far more pressing.

Though, notably, she makes no move to close the gap for him, sticking with Kairi where it's nice and calm. There's just too many writhing bodies that she just dodged her way through herself. You're on your own, Terra!

She waves at him though.]

Terra! Over here...!

[If so, Aqua's glad? The people so far have been....weird, but Kairi seems perfectly benign.]

Videl looked around the train as she got on, still a bit shaken by what she already heard and what's she's seen so far. She had mostly kept to herself since arriving, trying to parse the whole city's setup in a way that didn't send off red flags for her. Which hadn't worked, if anything that just made her think even worse of this place than her initial reaction.

Thinking about that even more probably wouldn't be a good thing for her right now, so maybe she should probably try to do something else.

Like talking to a girl who was smiling at her as she walked into the train. Might as well, right?

Videl took a seat next to the girl, waiting for a moment before she finally decided to speak. "So, uh, are you new to this place too?"

Oh thank the light, someone to talk to and help keep her mind off things. And it looked like she was just as nervy as Kairi herself about all this, so that was nice.

Well, not nice, but at least reassuring in that they had the same viewpoint on this.

"Yeah, I think most of us are. Haven't actually had any of the locals try to talk to me, aside from the guide. I'm Kairi. What's your name?"

Videl almost let out a sigh at the confirmation that the other girl wasn't a native to this place. With all that she had seen of it so far, Videl really couldn't see herself getting along with someone who was from this city and okay with everything.

"I'm Videl," she answered. "Usually I'd say that it was nice to meet you, but, well, there's everything about this whole set up." And that was getting her mind right back on, well, everything she didn't want to think about right now. She slumped back a little. "Though this isn't even the worst situation that I've been in before."

"Wow, seriously? Now you've got me curious." On the one hand, talking about other terrible things they'd gone through probably wasn't the best way to distract themselves. On the other hand, it was a distraction, if nothing else.

"Probably the worst thing that ever happened to me was when I lost my heart. Metaphorical, obviously." At least she hoped that would be obvious. "I got basically put into a coma until Sora brought it back to me."

Argilla is terribly alone here, and is in desperate need of allies. She misses her comrades to the point of actual pain, but there's nothing she can do to change that. She put her name in the lottery because she had no idea what else to do. Her world was nothing at all like this so she's at a loss as to what she should or could be doing.

So Kairi is going to be anxiously approached by a tall, scarfaced woman wearing what can only be described as a kevlar skirt, bodice, and jacket. She doesn't have a Sub tattoo, but there's a dark brand on her chest thats partially obscured by her jacket.

"Are you Kairi?"

Well, this woman looks like she means business. Of course, she also looks like she's a bit on edge, but Kairi is completely understanding as far as that goes. No tattoo... wait, scratch that. Not the tattoo she's starting to look for whenever she meets someone new, but definitely a mark of some kind. Well, maybe she just got inked up at home. No big deal.

"Yeah. You're Argilla, right? Nice to meet you. Go ahead and sit down."

She gestures at the chair across from her, settling into her usual friendly smile for greeting a new face. A new face that isn't trying to rip out her (metaphorical) heart, anyway.

"Argilla of the Embryon Tribe." She says it anyway, even though she knows it has no meaning here. It'll always mean something to her.

She moves to take the seat across from the girl. The mark on her chest is upraised a little, but otherwise doesn't seem all that different from a tattoo. As for being on edge, there are a number of reasons for that. A number of which she would have a lot of trouble putting voice to.

Which is not why he's here. She needs allies and she has no idea how to go about doing that.

"Is.. this normally how people meet?"

Kairi shrugs at that question.

"In this city? No idea. In this club? Apparently. In general? Ehhhh... I guess it's kinda like matching up online, and a lot of people do that. Except I think then each person knows something about the other, from a profile or the like. We don't know anything but each others' names."

Which is just slightly awkward, really.

"Guess we should fix that, huh?"

Sora is unsettled by so much in this world so when he has a chance to go somewhere he's told the roles assigned to them don't matter, he jumps at it. He might be able to find people who he can befriend and maybe even work with to stop some of the worst of this place.

When he arrives though, he ends up distracted by the energy of this place. He likes being around people but there's something about this city that makes everything feel different. He usually finds it easy to fit in when he's tossed into new places, but there's a lot here that he doesn't want to fit in with.

He sees her hair first and feels a bit of nostalgia over it. Red hair always makes him vaguely think of her. He notices the familiar style first and then it dawns on him that this isn't just someone who reminds him of Kairi. It's actually her.

He rushes over then, mind focused on getting to her and making sure she's okay. He doesn't know what he'll do if she's been marked. When he sees her face he feels nothing but relief that she isn't.

"Kairi!"

The uneasy feeling she's been basically stuck in from the moment she came into this city didn't leave her when she came into this place, nor really when she sat down to chat with people, though at least she did manage to distract herself while she was doing that.

But now she's alone for a bit, surrounded by flashing lights, a pounding beat, and way too many people who actually seem to be enjoying themselves despite... well, everything. And trying to think over what she's learned since she got here really only makes it all worse.

And then she hears a familiar voice calling her name. At first she thinks she must be mistaken. He can't really be here. But then her eyes fall on his familiar, spiky-haired head.

"Sora!" No submissive line, either. Thank the light. She gets up from her table and rushes over to him, dodging around partygoers while barely noticing them, and flings her arms around him the second she's close enough.

"Thank the light! I mean... sorry you got dragged into this too, but..." She trails off, knowing she doesn't need to finish that sentence. He's probably as relieved and horrified at the same time to see her as she is to see him.

His arms move around her. At first he's careful with her, almost that he isn't entirely sure she's real, but once it's clear that she is solid and holding onto him, he wraps her into a stronger hug.

"Don't be," he replies with a shake of his head. If she was here, then he needs to be here to. As much as he hates the idea her being here, he hates the idea of her being here alone even more.

He pulls back then and looks her over. "Are you okay? Has anyone... tried anything?" He isn't sure how to word his concerns but he does know if anyone tried to lay a hand on her he'd have to do something about that.

"Pfff, no. You'd see the mess if they had." An overstatement, considering how little actual combat experience she's got? Yeah. But she absolutely wouldn't let anyone get away with pulling that kind of garbage.

Which makes it very fortunate that she's been brought in as a dom instead of a sub.

"I've mostly been talking to people, trying to get an idea about what's going on here, and what people are planning to do about it. Good news, most everyone who's been brought in here with us isn't super into the whole idea." You'd think that'd be an obvious statement, but at this point she's not sure what she'd be surprised by anymore.

"What about you? Been making friends?"
